Hey Jake, I've been given the opportunity to submit a proposal to convert an unused building at Mosswood Park in Oakland into a makerspace serving predominately kids and their families in the surrounding community. My relationship with Oakland Park and Rec is through the art festival I produce FIGMENT, and I have little in the way of building a makerspace. At Mitch and Jonathan's suggestion, I am reaching out to you today to propose we work with other like minded individuals and community members to draft a proposal for OPR on the space scope, programming focus, funding and building milestones and staffing for day to day operations. There are no other expectations besides creating something sustainable that serves the community. You perspective, advice and council would be incredible invaluable to seeing this project come to fruition.
