Storing & transferring bitcoins can be done all open-source on your own
machine, yes. To convert them to dollars you have to use some kind of
exchange unless you can find a nearby human being to trade with personally.
Maybe there's a sudoer who would want to buy all of our bitcoin donations
for cash?
There's also a directory of people who want to meet up and buy bitcoins in
person:
and you can
sell your bitcoins there for dollars if you don't want to use Coinbase. Or
you could keep the bitcoins in our own wallet most of the time and just use
Coinbase to convert them to dollars.
But the main thing is it's best to convert bitcoins to cash within a day or
two unless you want to speculate on the price which fluctuates a lot.

Yeah I'm researching and we can also store
bitcoins on our own servers
I'd like to avoid relying on any particular start up if there's an open
source self reliant solution instead. Which incubator they're in doesn't
matter-- even the prestigious ones are very unreliable
I had a bad experience but undramatic wcperience with an api from a
corporate giant.. So as mark said let's try open source first

To accept bitcoin payments you could try using Coinbase. They have a
merchant account thing which automatically cashes out the bitcoins you get
into your bank account every day. That's probably better than Sudoroom
holding bitcoins themselves because the price fluctuates so much.
The downside is they take 1%. But it's pretty hard to convert between
bitcoins and cash so that might be worth it.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with them except for being a user.
They're a Y Combinator company in SF unlike many bitcoin startups which
seem like fly-by-night mysteries

It's weird how much more productive I am doing it this way instead of
typing away on a computer totally online . This is a nice compromise if
getting benefits of online vs acquiring focus offline
Bitcoin-- anyone else have expertise ?

Hello good morning !
Started my first sudoroom hack in downtown sacramento the cartoon below
that can be letter pressed or silkscreen printed and eventually given as an
intro card to what we are about for donations
Maybe we could even print this on the back of circuit boards for future
electronics kits-- yes we can !!!
My butt hurts from biking all over sacramento -- met a cool food
activist bike shop edible pedals that does food delivery from farms by
bike. We need to descend en masse on sacramento in the party bus and learn
from all the rad people here!
