please see my last post about the ventilation plan.
as for eye protection, as long as people don't stare at the arc without
eye protection it shouldn't be a problem. That said, if people want to
make a welding curtain like Crucible uses, it's not a terrible idea:

by the way, here's a picture of the plasma cutter:

We should definitely disallow cutting of any stainless

We should probably ban any galvanized metals as well. Zinc fumes are nasty. Nickel in
stainless steel is a concern as well. So is the cadmium and manganese in some grades of
steel.
The upshot is that we probably shouldn't be doing any plasma cutting without some
serious ventilation. And eye protection of course - a welding curtain or screen might be
good to have.

PS: We've been discussing the possibility of doing water testing for metal
contaminants in CCL. But having a plasma cutter spewing metal oxides into the air on the
other
side of the room may very well make that impossible...

we got the plasma cutter working! But the air compressor is still messed
up. We took it apart three times trying to fix the check valve, but it
simply didn't work.
I love plasma cutters but how are we going to safely use one indoors? I'm not sure
anyone wants to breathe clouds of metal oxides:
