Never seen the one at north end of the table on, can
try to turn it on last
time.
The one at the north end goes to sleep when it's not being used, and also the
monitor is a TV so when the computer turns off, it does not turn itself back
on. So you have to wake up the computer, or press its power button (on the
front) if it's actually off, and then press the power button on the monitor.
TBH I never knew those 4 stations were communal. The
other ones mentioned
kinda dismiss the purpose of a coding night which is everyone close by at a
table where collaboration is easier. But yea, signs would help people to
know they are allowed to use them.
It's a culture thing that people need to be told about sudoroom, which is
SUDO: you have permission to do things here without having to ask for
everything. So unless something is labeled with someone's name on it, or
obviously belongs to someone, you can touch it and use it and play with it.
We have to tell people this but now you know :)
There are no private stations in sudoroom. The computer behind the laser
cutter (on the south side) does have that look of a private station, but it's
not. The password is written on it and it can be used by anyone!
But I understand the clustering factor for the Tuesday
Hardware hacking, so
maybe I should focus on the laptops like Jake mentioned, which can be put
away when done with the event. We're actually doing this as well, I just
went last week and took a look at most laptops, put the working ones (as in
it turns on and boots) in one of the lockers. And the non working/missing
parts ones on a shelf in the back of the room.
The laptop project is great. If there are any that need fixing and it's
something more electronic, tell me where and i'll try to make them work.
Also I have hard drives and some RAM if there's not enough.
