It's part of Radio Shack's "Great Create" campaign, which includes an
effort to improve their offerings to the DIY community.

I'd love to hear from spaces interested in forming a team and throwing
their hat in the ring.

Hi, i'm throwing this out there for chez hack. I can do ios mobile location
based stuff, a very simple app that's hooked up to a web dashboard that
would be great for mapping out hacker spaces or neighborhoods through
geofencing.
It also has image recognition that's better than QR codes, that would
recognize a photograph.
it's using a commercial SDK though (Qualcomm's Gimbal) so that's the
caveat... but I think if anyone's down for interesting ideas with that, it
would be a fun project!

Hol and Naomi,
I agree with and support your locker idea completely. Self-funding
investments until profitability is a model we need to start.
I propose the price be $100 / m^3 to start.

hi folks,
there was some discussion a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away
about having lockers in the space and renting them out to members to
generate revenue / encourage people to work on long-term projects here
and/or allow them to just not carry as much home between visits
tall kind, probably not ideal:

smaller cube size:

i think it would be a good idea to throw in a few lockers and have people
sign up for recurring payments in order to reserve them. if seems like a
good idea, i'd be willing to buy them if i can be reimbursed AFTER the
locker program breaks even.
thoughts?

Thank you for all of your perspectives and insight!
Thank you Praveen (sign me up!)

Thank you revphil (let's screen your films!)
Thank you Romy (your idea now has a section in the portal!)
Thank you Matthew (the psigasm peeps are so fascinating!)
Please excuse the lack of images in the portal. I have some greeeeat ones
but the wiki is having uploader drama.

Part of the equation seen on
Valenzettiequation.com<http://wiki/Valenzettiequation.com>,
though this may not necessarily be canon <http://wiki/Canon>.
*The Valenzetti Equation* is the mathematical equation developed by the
reclusive Princeton University mathematician Enzo
Valenzetti<http://wiki/Enzo_Valenzetti>.
Its creation was the result of efforts made following the Cuban Missile
Crisis by the United States and the Soviet Union to find a solution to the
hostility and danger of imminent global disaster created by the Cold War.
The equation was secretly commissioned through the UN Security Council and
is used to predict the time of human extinction.
According to the 1975 orientation film <http://wiki/Orientation_film> in
the Sri Lanka Video <http://wiki/Sri_Lanka_Video>, the Valenzetti Equation
"predicts the exact number of years and months until humanity extinguishes
itself."

Unknown man writing the Valenzetti Equation on a chalkboard in the Sri
Lanka Video.
During the video, Alvar Hanso <http://wiki/Alvar_Hanso> also states that
the radio transmitter on the Island <http://wiki/Radio_Tower>, will
"broadcast the core numerical values of the Valenzetti Equation." The
numbers <http://wiki/The_numbers>: 4 <http://wiki/4>, 8
<http://wiki/8>, 15<http://wiki/15>,
16 <http://wiki/16>, 23 <http://wiki/23> and 42 <http://wiki/42> are
explained in the Sri Lanka Video <http://wiki/Sri_Lanka_Video> as the
numerical values to the core environmental and human factors of the
Valenzetti Equation. Alvar Hanso also states in the video that the purpose
of the DHARMA Initiative <http://wiki/DHARMA_Initiative> is to change the
numerical values of any one of the core factors in the equation in order to
give humanity a chance to survive by, effectively, changing doomsday.
However, Thomas Mittelwerk <http://wiki/Thomas_Mittelwerk> reveals that as
of 2006, they have failed to change the values through manipulating the
environment, as the equation continues to arrive at the same six numbers.
It is unknown how or if the most recent calculation of the equation is
automatically reflected in the radio transmissions.
Rachel Blake <http://wiki/Rachel_Blake> also learned that the Hanso
Foundation was forcing savants at the Vik
Institute<http://wiki/Vik_Institute>in Iceland to run the equation
over and over. Somehow, five
hieroglyphic <http://wiki/Hieroglyphics> symbols were involved in the
calculations (Armand Zander <http://wiki/Armand_Zander> described them as
"representative"), the same hieroglyphs seen on the countdown
timer<http://wiki/Countdown_timer>in the
Swan <http://wiki/The_Swan> station.
The Blast Door Map <http://wiki/Blast_Door_Map> included a reference to the
equation; a zone on the island is marked as being of "low relevance to
Valenzetti-related research activity".

A person from The Public School wanted to do a screening of Vanishing of
the Bees http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1521877/ on the Tuesday the 23rd of
this month in the common space. I wanted to check if that is okay. I tried
to put it on the calendar but it appears broken (plug-in needs updating FYI)
I also wanted to share that we are doing a game/event on Saturday May 4th
called Terra Incognita where you explore the city and make a game of it. We
are still working out details but the original info is here:
http://demilit.tumblr.com/terraincognita and the event is here:
http://thepublicschool.org/node/34285
Also wanted to float the idea of a "meeting of the minds/party" between the
groups that share the suite. A chance to learn more about the various
projects happening at sudoroom/the public school/ and others, network and
interface. Like Hacker Happy hour but with a little more structured
discussion. Just a thought
Oh and the suggestion for a class on the history of telecom systems would
be awesome.
Best,
Marty
