Hi there,
This is Shimaa again, I haven't heard from anybody since I communicated with you. Can you please get back to me?
The event is Friday and I want to make sure you're still on. I invited people already and spread the word out about it.
You can also give me a call on my cell phone: 917-615-8899

==Past Action Items==
* Ink donation jar - Juul - not done
* Investigate integrating Stripe and/or Balanced Payments [Jenny, Bill]
** Seems Stripe is better for recurring billing (Balanced's recurring
billing system is still in beta: https://github.com/balanced/billy) - this
is essential for us. Let's try Stripe!)
* Look into other hackerspaces'<3 accounting system [Jenny]
** GNU Cash looks most interesting - otherwise not much in the way of FOSS
tools for finances: http://www.gnucash.org/
* Get new lease for 2141 Broadway (update to sign with "sudo room" as an
entity) - Matt - pending response from George
* Reword proposal on problematic non-members (Jenny, Brendan)
* slay zombie events that show up when importing from calendar
* follow up on the stuff here https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Articles
==Fiscal Solvency==
* $204.11/week from Gittip!
* Minimum membership dues: $2.50/wk; Recommended: $15/wk; Endless
gratitude: $25/wk, high-fives from a million angels: $100/wk.

==Amendments to Articles of Association==
1. [Postponed] Final consensus on yar's filming proposal, which was
unanimously approved on Dec. 18th meeting:
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Filming_at_sudo_room
*Discussion around the wording of #1B (alternative wordings in the link
above)
*Philip suggests looking into the 'Right to Delete' policies of various
European countries - + tight windows for keeping data - Privacy by Design
The following were not discussed this week, but will go on the agenda for
next week:
2. [Postponed] That members don't ever have to show up in person if they
don't want voting rights.
*Brendan proposes to strike this as unnecessary
3. [Postponed] To empower members to deal with problematic non-members,
non-members can be thrown out at any time by a member if that members feel
they are being a problem, _unless_ some other member present in the space
is willing to vouch for the member as a guest. Non-members being asked to
leave must be told that they can further discuss the incident at a
Wednesday meeting or on the mailing list.
*We need to have a policy on this, but should be written in a more
nonviolent manner.
4. [Postponed] Non-members can use the space as much as they want when
other members are present, but cannot access the space when no members are
there and have to leave when the last member leaves.
*Not enough members to reach quorum, push to next week
==conflict resolution==
== new members==
* Mack [cleaning, organizing, fixing sewing machines]
* Gaurav [Gittip]
==Discussion==
*Yar suggests we rotate bureacracy meetings with hacknights!

Incorporation [delete liberally, add succinctly]

Hi everyone,
The Tribune article about Oakland Wiki <http://oaklandwiki.org> is out!

Thanks to everyone who spoke with Matt Artz from the Tribune about what
we're trying to do.
Also, we've just tipped past 5,000 entries! Thanks to everyone who has ever
contributed!
And thanks to Sudo Room for being the IRL home of Oakland Wiki!

Subject: Need Biologist with Bioinformatic knowledge, Yesterday
Entrepreneur, U.C. Berkeley social science Ph.D., is starting a biotech company specializing in environmental (ecological) microbial analysis. Affiliated with QB3 incubator, needs co-founders. Looking for bioinformatic programmer, knowledgeable in databases and tools (e.g., AWS, GenBank, GreenGenes, specialized R protocols) to work with me toward developing a front-end and user-facing interface (will find separate web designer and software developer for this). NDA required. I don’t have funding yet, so I can only pay with equity to start. Please contact: rstartupcofounder(a)outlook.com.
Hey guys,
a friend of mine who works for the city of Oakland and is meeting with the
ACLU on DAC stuff (to fix this nightnare) has asked me for
- a coherent, semi-formal argument against the DAC.
- Language against specific aspects of the DAC like the shot spotters,
facial recognition, etc. What they will be used for vs what they say they
will be used for, etc.
What resources do we have on hand that I can forward or write up for them?
Thanks!
David
Last week tunabanas and I went to represent sudo at Southern Exposure's
grantees ceremony. (We hacked the acceptance speech, and showed artists
they are probably hackers too.) It got me thinking, and I wrote this poem
for sudo.
After and before, all the silenced outcasts leave their trace,
I myself learn electronics and genetics at sudo hackerspace.
Well not quite, but then intentions are there
An eager post-work brain doing what it can to care.
And the movement's building, more people join us to rock-it,
The latest anacho-syndicalists with a California nonprofit.
When only a year ago we were crash test dummies,
2 grants in a row makes us flush with ca$h monies.

Hi,
I just had ankle surgery so I'm not sure if I can help organize the
upcoming post Art Murmur Artmaking party.
*I'm about to strike it out of the calendar... *
*Is anyone interested in running the event on February 7 still? *
Organizing it isn't a big problem, and there are still leftover art
supplies (probably in the radio room) from the last event.
- At the last event the work I had to do to get it going was minimal.
- People just sort of showed up with their own supplies as well, it was
very collaborative.

*February 7, 2014*

*SudoRoom Art Making Party*
*As the Oakland Art Mrumur ends, artmaking werewolves converge on the
SudoRoom hackerspace to jam to music, make art, and collaborate in all
sorts of crazy werewolf ways.*
*If you are an artist, performer, genius of ways to set up collaborative
artmaking stations, or have films and videos to show, contact us! We’d like
to see your stuff.*

Since it will be outside 24/7, maybe we should install a weatherized
or skinnable keyboard? as if we dont, that may invite yet more keypad
fails down the road -
