Subject: [Noisebridge-announce] Hack the Left: An Anticapitalist Hackathon
Hack the Left is an anticapitalist hackathon, February 5-7 at Noisebridge.
This is an experiment to see what happens when you get a bunch of leftists in a room for a weekend with the intention to advance liberatory and anticapitalist projects using
technology. This includes software projects like Tor and Signal, art projects like the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project and Men in Grey, hardware projects like mesh networks
and signal jammers, and tools for rad organizations like Anti Police-Terrorism Project and Food Not Bombs. It's clear that there's a huge amount of opportunity for
liberatory technology. It's up to us to build it.
We also need people involved with left-aligned organizations, technical or not, to show up and help guide all the technical folks towards doing things that are actually
useful. We want to build with, not for.
More information and the answers to probably all of your questions, please check out the website, hacktheleft.com (redirects to the Noisebridge wiki page).
Cost is a recommended donation of $15. In the unlikely event that this makes any money, it will be donated to Noisebridge.
Dear Sudo Room,

does anyone know what model the door handle/lever/knob is or know where the
documentation is?
the quikest solution would be to change the mode to auto-relock...if it's
possible.
i guess we could just poke around on it to discern.

Worked when I first got it 6-7 years ago, has spent most of the time since
wrapped in plastic in storage. Guessing it needs a cleaning/calibration.
Preferred usages.
Someone with the skills interested in refurbishing it use at Sudo? Awesome!
Someone with the skills to refurbish it to sell it to benefit sudo?
Awesome!
Someone wants it for personal use? Awesome, make an offer, I'll split the
proceeds with sudo.
Someone wants it for personal use for free? That's okay, have at it.

Thanks Matt for holding it down so long! Maybe some of our newer
members can start hosting regular events.
i've been having a brainstorm over the last two days that has led me to the
conclusion that the best way for us to fundraise to save the omni might be
to host 215 only (no alcohol) lounge nights. we could charge $20-30 and
have different themes each night, i.e. hip hop, reggae, jazz, etc.
the oakland dispensaries are not allowed to has lounges like in sf.
we don't currently have a liquor license
the oakland dispensaries that get busted for having lounges only get simple
possession charges...even for having 30 pounds.
anyone with me?

isn't anyone interested in hacking radio anymore? start a pirate radio
station or something.
this is my ad:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ele/5413874550.html
over a dozen high-power VHF radio transcievers from police cars and fire
trucks, and some from relay towers (those are 2.1GHz)
all powered by 12VDC and transmitting up to 150 or more watts, on various
bands, mostly around 150MHz i think. Several types, mostly motorola brand.
I don't have the wiring harnesses, expecting you would just use them as RF
amplifiers since SDR transceivers are so cheap these days.
Ideally you will take them all. Please write with questions.
