I said "your 'community' space," but honestly, I still want this to be my space, too. I hardly ever make a fuss about any of this stuff because it's all so futile, you know? but in this case, I really want to make my point clear: I think we should rescind our action against Rannette. I think she's been treated unfairly. Even if she is "aggressive" towards you or your compatriots, I don't think we need white dudes policing our space of black women's bodies. Matt, you claim to have acted in another's interest and you offer an injured third party -- let them speak for themselves, because I don't think it's your place right now. If there was a violent incident that threatened our space, let's hear it from a witness or an involved party. "Something Happened" is not good enough. Otherwise "but above all the Omni Commons must maintain a safe, welcoming environment" seems to fly directly in the face of the lived experience of too many black people.

Call for Facilitators / Participants in a sudo Men's Group

Hey all, I wanted to reach out for some feedback. Seeking folks who would want to facilitate or participate in a men's group. I've previously participated in small groups like this and found them beneficial for various reasons. I would like to see if folks have had similar or different experiences. The way I'm thinking about this would culminate in something like a regular meeting for men in the sudo room community to discuss relevant issues including those of identity, oppression, privilege, patriarchy, gender, sexuality, stereotypes, safe space, and mutual support. This may not be the best or even a viable path to approach these topics, but I wanted to throw it out there to see if there is any interest. Thanks, Matt

It's not huge as SEM's go, but definitely not desktop - more like "small room sized". And it would obviously need some dedicated person to keep it in good running condition. It is however almost brand new, and currently *running*, at <5nm resolution! Beam Services Inc is down in Pleasanton, so I guess interested parties could potentially go and have a look at the system. This kind of equipment would be a significant commitment and investment in time and effort on our part, so let's coordinate on this shall we? [URGENT] Networking & web geeks needed at Standing Rock

Hi all, I've been working remotely with Lisha Sterling with Geeks Without Bounds, Digital Smoke Signals <https://www.facebook.com/DigitalSmokeSignals> and other orgs comprising the Tech Warrior Camp on the ground at Standing Rock. They completed their WiFi bridge to a nearby tribal-owned telecom on Saturday and so the camp now has internet, but they could use support building out an intranet mesh for ready access to Lakota educational materials, medical and legal info, camp-to-camp communications, and media storage. Nodes will be powered via a decentralized array of small solar / wind / bike power modules. The intention is to build out permanent and sustainable infrastructure at Standing Rock, to last well beyond the pipeline protest. Modular Shelf for a Maker

Hi Makerspace First of all I really respect what you are doing. I think its a great project and very worthwhile teaching classes and providing resources for people to make stuff! I made a modular shelf and was wondering if you would be interested in making it for your space. I provide the plastic parts and give a cutting guide for you to take to your local wood merchants. So it is a maker product I think. The connector piece was designed on a 3d printer and then moulded. I've attached some pics for you to consider if it would make a useful addition to your space. seeking roommate in west oakland

as a member of this community i hereby post the following: seeking a housemate to fill a bedroom of about 140 square feet, on the ground floor of a duplex in west oakland, starting on December 1st. the monthly rent is $900 due to circumstances beyond my control. myself and the other two housemates are paying more for larger and less for smaller rooms, as is fair. I will try to get you onto the lease so you have full tenants' rights. The house is in good condition, has a large common room, and clothes washer/dryer. 1.2 miles from MacArthur BART station it has a nice backyard which is shared with the upstairs apartment, which is used as AirBNB by the capitalist landlord, but it's nice because it means that most of the time it's empty.
