This artist is visiting town and wanted to know if he could speak at Sudo
Room or give away any art. I told him that we don't have anyone dedicated
to organizing this kind of event, but that I'd ask if anyone wants to.
If you'd like to host him during November, put it on the calendar and go
for it.

To: <info(a)sudoroom.org>
Good Morning,
I am a Guatemalan Artist in Canada. I am wondering if your space would want
to be part of a project I've been Working on.
https://jaredarmandosofoifa.com/the-ocean-gives/
This is my largest painting to date. It spans roughly four feet by five
feet. I want to give it away in a raffle to anyone that shares a smile.
This year being in a position of comfort, it pained me greatly to see
everyone around me struggling with the rising costs of everything. Being
from Guatemala I have a deep knowledge of plants and how to cultivate them.
I volunteered my time at a giant garden in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan,
operated by the local food bank. I realized that I was focusing on the
wrong things, while it was great to feed people, as a painter I couldn't
stand by and not feed their souls. Given that fine Art is mostly out of
reach from the working class, I decided that I would rather "sell" my
painting for smiles. I want to provide people struggling for survival, to
have some kind of hope.
In our politicized world it is hard to be kind to others and not guarded.
What we need is community and unity. I feel like this project gets at the
core of what future artists will provide the world. If you would like I can
provide files for ready-to-print media including a poster with a QR code
and printable raffle tickets from anyone that does not have a 'smart'
telephone. As well as the poem about the painting.
I will be in the Bay Area during Nov.8th-Nov.23rd promoting my Art and the
seven works of writing I completed during COVID lockdowns in Canada, while
also working on my stand-up comedy and music at any open mics I can get
into.
I would be happy to give a brief Artists talk outlining the project and the
future role of Artists as we fight to stay relevant in a world where AI
threatens all our livelihoods.
Attached are some media provided to me from the Saskatoon food bank while
my painting was in their space.
It's not required, but as a working Artist I would greatly appreciate any
honorarium (if your organization can afford it) to help me with my travel
expenses and shipping cost for the painting.
Let me know your thoughts,
Sincerely,
Jared Armando Sofoifa
ps I'm the one in the pink hat. Also attached some additional paintings of
mine.

Happy Monday everyone!
I want to provide an update that we will be pushing back tomorrows building
gathering to the following Tuesday, April 1st from 5:30-7 pm (see the
attached flyer) Please encourage as many past and present Omni members to
attend!
In light of this change, I will also be extending office hours [SIGN UP HERE
<https://calendly.com/valerie-thecalli/30min>] for this week so that we can
get as much input on the Building Rules as possible. If those times lots
don't work for you but you are interested in meeting or going over the
document via phone I am amenable to that. Please tell all of your
participants and group members to submit a response through the FEEDBACK
FORM <https://forms.gle/hEJhREnduWD4im8L8>. You do not have to submit your
name and email address if you don't feel comfortable and would prefer to be
anonymous. I welcome feedback in all forms and want to help meet people
where they are. If there are opportunities to outreach about the feedback
form and upcoming gathering at your groups upcoming events please let me
know.
Note that after this review process once any updated edits are made, the
Building Rules will be going into effect. While there will be annual
reviews and edits may arise when major changes come up, this is still the
ideal timeframe to voice your perspective and engage with the content
before it starts getting implemented.
I look forward to hearing and seeing more input come through.
Take care,

Are we having any monthly sudoRoom meetings? I'd like to propose one before
our super late Tuesday events-- it can be short and sweet!
we could have a "tea" or a potluck and it could be cut short to about an
hour. For me I'd prefer anything that isn't sitting and something as in
person and not remotely run as possible!

I posted the April 22nd creative reuse event on the. blog. We should theme
our April 22nd hardware hack night around the creative reuse event! Maybe
even hand out flyers to those who are attending at Creative reuse and
invite them !

I have been reading articles that women in general use AI tools much less
than men.
I don't think that people =have= to use it, but at AI meetups, unless
people are already research scientists, I'm just seeing a lot fewer women
and non-binary folks.
I guess this would be a good theme for a casual, non stressful "let's catch
up with AI" (again it is not something to push people ot use these tool but
to be aware)
I will try to schedule some during the women and non-binary night or right
before the SudoRoom Hardware Hack night (a 6:30-7:45pm session would be
really great for us early risers)

Hi Sudoers:
Jon from SF is coming to tonight’s SoftWEAR and Hardware Hacking Night
with a Broken usb thumb drive with his taxes on it so it’s kind of an
emergency for him:
Broken usb thumb drive Sandisk Ultra Laptop fell over while in
use, bending drive and making internal contacts disconnect Needs
soldering, but I don't have much experience with things this small.
Can those with good soldering skills help him tonight?
Sincerely, -Peter
