updates on the sudoroom calendar- adding bike parties (so many opportunities fro collaboration!)

I'm starting to update the SudoRoom Calendar with relevant local volunteer driven community groups. I think it's pretty rad to add the local bicycle parties--there are at least 3 of them in the sf bay area. they happen each once a month, so about 3 weeks out of 4 there's a cool bicycle party to attend somewhere in the sf bay area with hundreds of people! - the san jose bike party (very diverse, largest one, latino and much of the time reachable by BART now that the berryessa line is open! lots of taco trucks!!! summers are super fun because they stop by local east side san jose parks and even people who don't bike can dance and partipcipate - the east bay bike party (which is this friday)! https://sudoroom.org/events/east-bay-bike-party-green-forest-nature/ - the east bay bike party in particular is going to be super interesting, because we can mount our bicycles with laser projectors and start messing around with cool designs. - there is so much cool action too from the richmond (east bay richmond) at this event - multiple stops at bike parties with disco dancing, so lots of opportunities to play with mobile light projections - the sf bike party - super fun tends to be a bit chillier, trying to think of a thing we can do that's unique to sf the name of the game is collaboration and fun. 😎 I wonder what cool mobile light projections or displays we can make. Light projection mapping progress - finally moving forward!

I got a lot of help from sudoroom members with the light projection mapping ideas. Also from Noisebridge! So far a lot of stuff online is people using really nice larger projectors, and there's a lot of great sophistication with mapping beforehand, especially in Blender, etc. But after chatting with folks, I'm taking the route first with small handheld laser projectors that hook up easily to smartphones and tablets or can take SD cards. The small projectors have been a good choice to get people excited. It's a lot more spontaneous. THere's just something about hooking up a laptop to a huge projector, being stuck at the back of room etc., but with the hand held projectors I can go anywhere and manipulate the images manually without having to make fancy graphics and videos - Marc discussed mounting the projectors onto bicycles - both projectors have mounts or have threaded quarter inch? inserts common to cameras, and I'm fairly confident I can put them on my goPro style mounts with some work. Aiming maybe for the next East Bay Bike Party which is March 11 (Friday night) - oh ya marc I still have your camera mount on wood for the stand will bring it back Sunday or Tuesday is that OK! - Carl G from SudoRoom has some projects he made for pixel art - we projected onto the movable walls in the sudoroom ballroom. Since it was so dark we were able to get a decent size (the walls) and there was a lot of energy and excitement! https://www.flickr.com/photos/miromi/51917779157/in/photostream/ Even nicer, I have been trying to get my regular cartoonist drawing group that meets wednesdays to get involved and even hang out at SudoRoom and omnicommons. They're just very clever and focus a lot on animation and cartoons! I mean we aren't going to attempt this yet without asking, but what is the next step from immersive light projection rooms in the Omni Commons Ballroom?
