Calling all hardware startups: Sheet Acrylic Manufacturing Workshop

Exciting news: This time Mike Zhao, our contract manufacturing expert, is going to come for the Q&A in person! How much do you expect to pay for your molds? $10,000? Maybe even $100,000? If you are a startup and don't have the capital or the volumes to justify expensive plastic molds, manufacturing out of sheet acrylic might be the answer for you. Myself (Ruth) and Rik are running a sheet acrylic manufacturing workshop. We make the whole process accessible, from teaching joints/cutting/bending to sharing local prototyping contacts and hosting a 30 minute Q&A with a Chinese contract manufacturer. BioPrinting is 3D printing with living cells. Think of printing a new heart or kidney for a patient needing a transplant! Or a bit more DIY-accessible: how about printing an artificial leaf, as a proof of principle that we can make a functioning (plant) organ? As some of you know, I've been heavily involved in the BioPrinter project at Biocurious for the past several years. And I've been wanting to get a parallel group of the ground at CCL as well. I plan to give an overview of bioprinting in general, go over what we've done in the Bioprinter group away Biocurious so far, get hands-on with the current hardware (which I've absconded from BioC for the week), and discuss plans to restart a Bioprinting group at CCL. Lots of overlap with our existing lab robotics and plant bio groups as well... Hope to see you tonight! Patrik

I'm sensitive only because my capacity to contribute at this point is pretty much paying dues and showing up exhausted for the occasional plate of Wednesday mac. None of those things is serving on a board or a committee. Which means that's something I'm leaving on other folks to do. Don't feel good about that. The goal was to make it clearer for everyone, fairer, and shorter. The first proposal is for specific criteria that new and existing MCs must have and maintain. This appears to be much more controversial than the process proposal - it has many comments and the process proposal has almost none. These will be on the pad for their first discussion. Attend the next (3rd) Delegates meeting and present your updated application proposal for a final discussion. You will be asked to leave the building and the delegates will reach a decision. The process guide will notify you of the decision. If approved, finalize your membership 1. Sign a contract with Omni Commons, either a lease or fiscal sponsorship agreement. 2.
