Hi Sudoers:
I have three Master 175-style resettable combination padlocks that I’d
like to reuse but I don’t know the combinations so I’d like to decode at
least one of them so that I can reset the combination.
Apparently Master 175-style resettable combination padlocks are
relatively easy to decode, and I tried the technique in this video
(using a thin sliver of aluminum) but I don’t have enough experience to
have the right touch. Or maybe if I had the right tools it would work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzozWmdrPt0
(I also found this video of a dismantled Master 175 helpful:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmLrw4QjXzg
Any locksports out there willing to give this a try? Or aspiring
locksports? I’ll bring them tonight to Sudoroom. Or contact me off-list.
Many thanks in advance, -Peter
Yesterday a bunch of people got together to build up their kits of 5 watt
digital radio transceivers!
These are HF ham radio transmitter/recievers that connect to a computer
over USB, and allow communication on digital modes on what we call low
frequencies these days (but they're also called Shortwave even though
they're now the longest waves we use). Technically one is supposed to have
a ham radio license to transmit on these frequencies, although anyone is
allowed to listen in.
This is the kit they were building:
https://qrp-labs.com/qdx.html
We used the video microscope and all six soldering stations! It was the
most soldering happening at the same time in sudoroom in a long time. The
event will happen again on Wednesday.

I just learned of this event and thought I'd share with Sudo Room.
9th International Symposium on Academic Makerspaces (ISAM) 2025
https://isam2025.hemi-makers.org/
The International Symposium on Academic Makerspaces (ISAM) will be held in on the beautiful UC Berkeley campus in Berkeley, California August 6-8, 2025!
What is ISAM
The International Symposium on Academic Makerspaces (ISAM) is the preeminent annual meeting for the academic makerspace community. Over a span of 3 days, 300+ faculty, staff, student, and industry leaders gather to share makerspace knowledge, experience and inspiration in order to maximize impact on (i) the student learning experience and (ii) alumni success.
Past attendees have included student and faculty advocates, upper administration/leadership, government policy makers, educational researchers makerspace managers, industrial representatives, and other practitioners.
This year the organizing host for ISAM2025 is the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation at the University of California, Berkeley.

Hello Makerspaces, Hackerspaces, and Everything in Between,
I am contacting some makerspaces and hackerspaces in the SF Bay Area about
a new makerspace that is connected to the pro-Trump/MAGA movement and to
the Military Industrial Complex (more advanced military drones to murder
people on behalf of Emperor Trump & USA empire):
https://sfstandard.com/2025/01/20/san-francisco-maga-techies/
Their co-founder Justin Laser Bong Zelaya and his connections to the
Military Industrial Complex (scroll down for work on CIA-funded National
Security Hackathon):
https://www.linkedin.com/in/justin-zelaya-2236b5292
Both co-founders *Justin Laser Bong Zelaya* and *Tony Loehr *(goes by
"forkbomb" in some spaces) are currently or were previously connected with
Noisebridge hackerspace.
Their website pointing out their connections to a CIA and DoD connected
National Security Hackathon:
https://general-lithium.com/general-lithium-battery-powers-victory-at-natio…
I will find more info/evidence of this group and the individuals connected
to them (Justin Laser Bong Zelaya and Tony Loehr/@forkbomb )
*All of this is about hackers & makers & techies who are working with white
supremacist, patriarchal, colonialist powers and utilizing hackerspace +
makerspace resources for these imperatives.*

Hey folks,
We¹ve got some dead/dying 8' fluorescent tubes hanging above in Sudo.
Fixtures are for single nipple at each end. I¹d prefer warmer a color
temp, under 4000k.
Rather than cobbling together something, we should get the correct
replacement bulbs.
I found these-
https://www.amazon.com/8FT-Bulbs-3000K-6500K-Fluorescent-Replacement/dp/B0C
SYMPJHZ?ie=UTF8
I¹m pretty sure the CRI wouldn¹t be that great (the ad doesn¹t mention
it).
A local industrial lighting store in Concord (CME Lighting) has the Satco
#S29917- 3500K 8¹ long led bulbs, 40W 5300 lumens, 82 CRI. $29.95 each.
https://www.satco.com/products/S29917
The Satco¹s should fit the bill nicely and very likely be more issue free
than the ones from Amazon. Decent CRI, local supplier, etc.
We should try two over the incoming area then see if we like them.
Any budget in the pot for these?

Hi:
Sudoers and CCLers might be interested in the STEM events in the
included email below.
Would someone be interested in organizing Sudoroom and/or CCL in
exhibiting at the Tri-Valley Innovation Fair? http://quest-science.org/
Sincerely, -Peter
