6 beautiful mahogany pews for sudo room. Free!

Heres the saga thusly: There are 6 pews for free in vallejo. They are a beautiful mahogany with orange/red seating. They are 16 feet long. Marty was going to haul them with his truck but unfortunately the bed is too short. :( So we turned to Craigslist for a mover. We found one who would do it for $60! Woot! We had it set up for 9 this morning. He calls at 8 and says his truck bed is too small. :( So we looked up prices from U-Haul. $30 bucks for a 17' moving van. Sounds perfect. Unfortunately the fine print says U-haul charges $1 a mile. Vallejo is apprx. 30 miles away. So we are looking at something around $100-$110 with gas & bridge. So any ideas, Sudoers? Anyone have access to a flat-bed? Or want to chip into the cost of the U-Haul? The church lady was so nice; she said she would hold them for another day if we could get it together. Free freezer (needs coolant) for your project

Hello Sudoers! Who wants an apartment sized freezer for a project? You can make a DIY smoker <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHJlBLYGNcs> or use it in fermenting beer. <http://www.instructables.com/id/Converting-a-fridge-for-fermenting-beer/> The freezer works as a fridge now (possibly needs more coolant), and it chills to about 40 degrees F. It's completely free, you just need to grab it from our apartment on Oakland Ave x Grand. We are at the top of 1 flight of stairs. Long live the Exchequer

After a long period of semi-benign neglect of the weightier aspects of the Excheqing, I am happy to pass the function on to the eminently qualified Tommy York. In addition to having drafted a new set of fiscal solvency sheets for us which look like they will serve us very well, he brings experience running coop finances and a business degree to the task. This could not come at a better time, since the regular budget surpluses I mostly passively functioned over mean that we will very soon be crowdfunding sudo projects with our surplus income. My day job is now to write an accounting system for a crowdfunding and community currency platform with significant conceptual overlap with our own financial processes, and to the extent I am able contribute this sort of automation to what we do at sudo room, I will deeply appreciate the guidance and leadership of someone with a firm handle on the business issues at the core of things. As is our ancient sudo custom, after the obligatory series of polite, coy refusals by Tommy, the Excheqatorial sceptre was dropped and waved in the prescribed manner, and the information on the accounts was handed over, and the ritual of assumption is now complete. Welcome to the future, Tommy!

So the nice lady is holding them for us, but we need to act fast (large numbers of calls and interest). I would like to request 2 of them but the rest can go to my favorite hacker space. Dear All, I just wanted to confirm that we are indeed still meeting this Friday at 6pm if that still works for everyone. At the moment I'm still trying to get us access to the Berkeley space that we discussed before for the possible East Bay DIY Bio hacker space but no word yet. So we have a choice 1. Meet at a Cafe/Bar/Restaurant (possibly Saturn Cafe) in Berkeley at 6pm 2. Alternatively, we could meet back at Sudo room at 6pm just before the hacker happy hour and talk for a while as people arrive until about 7/7.30pm? My preference (for simplicity) would probably be Sudo Room Let me and our fellow Biohacker members know if you have a preference? Please also see the agenda below compiled by Ron: 1) How to build a self-sustaining community? What sorts of organization, resources, people, physical requirements would there be to get a space off the ground? Who will be in the community and what are their goals? How might membership work? What are our self sustaining budget numbers? How will the lease and other such legal obligations work? How can we collaborate with biocurious and nextgen? Who can be our allies to build this momentum? Other topics related: legal, regulatory, fiscal requirements, organization, volunteers, building momentum, lab rules 2) Projects. Everyone loves talking about projects. Given some idea of what the community needs, how can projects build that community? Because it takes at least 6 months of focused experience to get up to speed in actual biological hacking, team projects will probably be the mainstay of the lab for a while. Team projects should probably be focused and supported by vote, but how can we gauge what is too ambitious for a first round?
