Hi all,
My company had a fire incident with a laser cutter (let this be a lesson
for all of us about laser cutter safety!). Although most of the parts are
still good, they've decided to simply replace the entire machine with a new
one.
Let me know if you are interested in taking the old one. It's offered as-is
with no guarantees made and no responsibility taken, but we think it could
be brought back to working condition with a little elbow grease and,
obviously, replacing the cover.
The laser still works, as do the Y and Z axes. The X axis needs the belt
changed and the cover needs to be completely replaced. Then everything will
have to be recalibrated. We estimate it's something like 6-10 hours of work.
You would also need to arrange for transport from West Oakland.
It's a 100W Omtech unit

selling new for $3899. We really liked it, and replaced it with an
identical model.

Hi! I was at sudoroom a few months ago and saw that there was an embroidery machine (babylock ellageo esg2 i think) in the downstairs sewing lab. It was kind of disassembled at the time. Does anyone happen to know if it's working or needs parts/repairs?

The New York governor just signed a rate repair bill. It’s the first one, I
think, and apparently the industry groups came down on her, super hard
after the legislature passed it overwhelmingly. I honestly didn’t expect
she had that chutzpah!

A real estate agent who contacts me when she have a house with tools to
empty has a place in the Elwood District that has to be cleaned out by
January 4. Â Celena and I visited today. Â The owners had a load of
electronic gear and cables that might be of interest to your crew. Â If
not, it's headed to e-waste. Â I'll be there tomorrow at about 10:30, if
you or any of the FixIt folk want to join us.
On a Related Front: Â Years ago I picked up some electronics that had
been used to install solar hot water systems. Â Nice-looking old-style
meters that I'd intended to install in our grandkids' treehouse to give
it a second life as a space ship or submarine. Â They weren't interested
and the stuff has been gathering dust in my shop. Â Does that sort of
thing hold any interest for you?
On a Related Front #2: Â Picked up many bolts of cloth from an upholstery
shop cleaning its warehouse. Â Four or five of them didn't pass my wife's
inspection. Â Â Would your sewing shop be interested?
