hi, i tore into the genny that was donated to sudo this am and discovered a
200V 1000uF *can* type capacitor was blown. i was hoping to use it tomorrow
(friday) in a mobile sound system for the march to/from the port. anyone
have any ideas as to where i could find one?
of coarse, we just took several large lcdtvs to ewaste last night.
thx
I just replaced the cover on my hot tun and am about to throw away the old
one, but I thought I would offer it up to anyone at my local hacker spaces
in case anyone has a use for it.
There are 2 halves, each a bit less than 4x8 feet and about 4" thick. It's
made of some sort of medium density closed cell foam covered in a vinyl
fabric of some sort which is easily cut off.
Let me know if you are interested. I can drop it off for you anywhere
nearby.
If I don't hear, it goes to the dump on Tuesday.

Come by Sudo Room tomorrow evening and hold it down after Oakland shuts it
down!
This isn't just a party - it's also a fundraiser to help grow sudo room's
broke-ass bank account. Please bring some cash to donate!
We'll have:
* Fermentation Station's witchy brew and kombucha
* A special batch of SudoMate
* An outdoor laser cutting workshop
* A dance party in sudo itself, with a special guest performance of our hit
group, New Oakland Scavanger Co Electric Spazm Champions - it's like a jug
band without the jugs, and instead with pretty much any instrument you want
* A newly-operational robot arm that will be drawing SVG portraits
* A fresh batch of sudo swag - buttons and new stickers
* Potentially a very special interactive musical performance powered by
lightning!
SPAZ will also be hosting a soundsystem party in the basement of the Omni,
with a tea lounge upstairs in La Commune.
Invite your friends, 7pm til late!
Hey I got some excitement about 3D printing MRIs a few weeks back
Would folks be interested in getting this up on a shared server?
I'm thinking of gathering the MRIs and putting them on Dropbox or
something, but is there a more convenience place at SudoRoom?
Should I just stick this on the wiki?

sudo room now automatically announces last BART departures.
It should announce last departures from MacArthur station for each of the
BART directions, SF, Richmond, Pittsburg and Fremont. It will announce each
last departure twice in the window 30 minutes to 10 minutes before
departure.
Here's how it works: I hooked up a usb audio adapter and some speakers to
the sudo server, wrote a little script that talks to the BART API and set
it up to run as a cronjob that speaks the results using espeak.
The code is here:
https://github.com/Juul/lastbart
It's all new and fragile so you probably shouldn't rely on it just yet.

Dear Omni financiers,
I just sent all of you invoices for your collectives' rent and shared
expenses at the Omni this month. If you didn't receive one, check your spam
folder and let me know if you need me to resend.
Here is a breakdown of the Omni's total shared expenses in April:
*Utilities:*
- PG&E: 721.44
- EBMUD: 478.60
- WM: 140.36
*Taxes & Insurance:*
- Building insurance: 661.00
- Director's & Officer's Insurance: 152.50
- Property taxes: 797.28
- Building tax: 181.35
Utilities are split between member collectives and tenants. Taxes and
insurance are split evenly among member collectives only.
If at all possible, please pay your rent and shared expense invoices on
time (by Friday, May 1). The Omni's ca$h flow is a little low this month.
If you have questions or you know your collective will be late paying rent
this month, talk to someone on the finance working group. It's great to
know in advance how much we can expect to receive by the 1st of the month.
Thanks and <3,
SP + Finances WG
Hello lovely people,
If you don't mind the potential side effects of selling your soul to
Univisión* and Disney/ABC, this might be an interesting way to highlight
some of the things Sudofolk, CCLers and beyond have been up to.

and we have a printing shop!

Hey folks!
My health (as it is wont to do) is getting in the way of me doing a lot of
things right now. The kind of multiple doctors appointments every week and
a lot of unfortunate illness.
I was going to go to the center for creative reuse and get some stuff that
we could print sudo's logo on, but I have not had a chance to do so and
stuff and things are going to get in the way of me doing it tomorrow now,
which ended up becoming the plan after all the doctors.
Won't even be able to make the meeting. :/
If someone else could pick up some cool stuff under an inch thick that
could have sudo's logo printed on it (I was thinking of looking for tiles,
coasters... I'm sure you have a good imagination) that would be super totes
amazing awesome.
However, the offer to make delicious fruit beverages still stands, if
produce appears at my house. That should still be feasible. Also, if I get
info, I can still put together copy that people can send to mailing lists
and stuff and things.
Rob? Thank you!!

now's your chance to learn how to make an android app

From: Barry Fruitman <barry(a)fruitman.me>
To: noisebridge-announce(a)lists.noisebridge.net
Subject: [Noisebridge-announce] Android 101 is coming to Noisebridge
Do you love to code? Are you into Android? Do you want to learn to write your own apps? If you answered YES to these questions then come to Noisebridge on Tuesday
May 5 from 6 - 9PM, when I'll be teaching an introductory course for Android beginners.
First I'll explain the basics of Android development, then we'll dive right in and write your first app. We'll spend the first couple of hours working together; in
the third hour I'll open the floor to discussion and advice on your app ideas. By the end of the class you'll have built a few apps and have enough knowledge to
start writing your own apps!
Important: Please pre-install Android Studio on your laptop before the class.
About me: I'm an software engineer working at Amazon Music. I've worked with Android for the last five years and love it so much that I want to share my knowledge
with other eager app developers.
Email me at barry(a)fruitman.me for details or join the Slack domain android101.slack.com.
See you there!
Barry
I found the modem. We should return it and get our $150 back.
it's at about eye level on the equipment rack nearest the wall, upstairs.
It doesn't have a power adaptor plugged into it, but i'm sure there's a
nice 12v 1 or 2 amp power adaptor up there that goes with it.
Max, can you tell them that we have it and we'd like to return it for
credit? You can contact me to actually deliver it to them.
thank you

the giant robot arm is again functional.
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Giant_robot_arm
unfortunately, in the process of repairing it we reset the memory and
god-mode is no longer enabled, so we have to figure out which registers to
edit to get it working again. Hopefully Ben can help, he figured it out
the first time.
