i see a lot of tools that sudoroom could use. If you want to sponsor
anything in the pictures, contact the seller or go to the event. If you
want to get something and you want me to pick it up, contact me directly
and let me know what you want and what you'll pay for it.

As long as a Sudoroom member is sponsoring everybody there as a guest,
it's fine for now. Although I'm not sure if we have a projector at the
moment.
Another group has applied to be a member of the Omni Oakland
Collective. Their name is Red Light Legal, a legal firm that
represents and advocates for sex workers. One of them, Matt Kellegrew,
has also done a lot of legal work for the Omni. They are asking for
500sqft of locked office space and want to pay $400/mo now, with the
hope of increasing that later if they get funded. I've forwarded their
full application below. If someone wants to put that in a more
accessible format like a wiki page, feel free.
Please share any thoughts you may have.
Sorry we forgot to mention this yesterday. It's going to be discussed
at tonight's omni delegates meeting.
Hey guys -
Longish story but the inspection will be tomorrow at 9AM.
I will meet the inspector here. I paid for the inspection up front, it was
$158.
Best,
David

Hey sudoers,
Gittip, our primary funding mechanism, doesn't notify you when your credit
card fails to process. This has been happening with increasing regularity
over the past two months (we're now at $338.40/wk, and not long ago we had
tipped $500!). I signed in today and my card had been rejected, so I had to
reenter my info.
Go here and sign in to check: https://www.gittip.com/credit-card.html
Sudo is not rich. We are losing money. I'll be working on setting up
alternative donation options this week. Send me suggestions if you have
them!

Cool. We should host the next one at the Omni.
I know many people on this list have deep Oakland ties, so I wanted to be
sure you knew that Oakland is hosting the *National Poetry Slam* for the
first time in over 20 years.
Sudo along side the Bay Area Public school have been a huge supporter of
the arts and especially poetry.
People have flown in from all over the country to be in Oakland. Many of
them have never been to California or The Bay Area. This is their first
experience with the city you hold dear.
If you see one of the 500 poets please welcome them to the Bay!
Many have excellent ideas and vision, it may be a great way to spread
whatever project or message you are working on
Here is the Press Release - They are not sold out as of this email

I dumped out some 'inside' trash bins (i.e, non-Waste Management bins) that
have been quietly rotting away in the basement, sudo and elsewhere
throughout the space..
No problem really except people's penchant to not remember to put a bag in
the bin.
If you are throwing away something that does not get totally nasty, maybe
you think, why even use a bag? Good point. I guess its because that others
do thoughtless things like toss their half-eaten burrito into the bottom of
a clean (or at least not totally nasty) bin, together with a pile of
unwanted chips, and all of that gets mixed in with the non-nasty garbage.
Now the bin, even emptied, smells really nasty, and needs to be cleaned.
But, I don't feel like cleaning it, so it will just make whatever space
it's in smell nasty, too.
The point being, every bin should have a garbage bag. Bags mean that when
you empty the bin, the bin doesn't need to be cleaned every time, or remain
smelling totally gross.
If you can't find a garbage bag, ask someone. If we are out of bags, go buy
a box a block away at the 24h walgreens. Save the receipt, and the OOC will
pay you back!
If you are too broke or unmotivated to do those things, please take your
garbage with you.
To prevent rankness, and the fact that WE DEFINITELY HAVE RATS, please do
not use any inside bin without a bag. Please? Thank you..
David
Yar, thanks for you input.
I like your idea too. No, we don't have any hacker asking for it. But I came out w that thought since NoiseBridge donated SudoMesh a couple of hundred of so wireless routers (boards).
Chris, Sudomesh member, would be best to answer the question about who the racks where donated to.
Thanks!

Btw all, the stuff of john's in sudo room is unfortunately Sudo's / Omni's
responsibility to remove.
If you are waiting for him to do it.. or pay for someone to do it.. ain't
gonna happen.
Sudo should take everything it doesn't want of johns and centralize it into
one area if possible so its clear what is wanted of john's and what is not.
Things like pallets should be put outside. Of course, I have heard there is
a family of rats living in the stack of pallets by the SE corner of Sudo,
so Sudo / omni may want to call pest control for some advice first. But
regardless, Sudo should I think try not to mix in the stuff it wants, or
its own stuff, with john's stuff it doesn't want. Let's get all the crap we
don't want out of there. That stuff can be put in the utility room or the
ballroom. This would be a very good project for Sudoers who are wondering
how they can help. Go for it!
David
I don't know where to put all the bikes and stuff (kind of hidden behind
the back curtain) on the stage, as well as all the sudo drumkits and
things, so that I can start making the stage a workshop for doing carpentry
and other needed work on the omni (as per my previous email)
I will have to put these things in sudo somewhere.. but, I don't know the
best place - I will just have to stack them somewhere in that room.
So, if you are looking for you on-the-stage things, look in Sudo now?
Love
David
Awesome! Please bring them to Sudo when you get the chance. Thx!

Hey everyone,
I just got back from HOPE last week and i have some renewed energy to
bring back a hackmeet type event. There will be a name change, now known
as RiotCon. The emphasis will be on art, society, hacking, and rupture.
I'd love to host it at sudoroom, but i don't know if that viable yet.
Looking at doing it early next year most likely.
If you're interested in helping plan it, let me know.
Hurray!

Hey guys,
We are not open that means you cannot sell your used bike to someone off CL
here in a way that can hold us liable.
A family just drove down from Concord trying to buy someone's bike of
craigslist in which the seller did not leave their name, actual email, or
phone number, just the address. The seller was nowhere to be found. Is this
bike stolen? That would get us in deep doo-doo.
We are *not open* and there is absolutely no way individuals can legally
use the omni to sell personal things especially like that and list our
address on craig's list as if we are selling it. The omni does not have a
sellers permit, are not insured for that, nor anything of the sort and we
can be held liable if it is stolen.
Whomever set this up, please contact me. I am not upset - but it is truly
imperative we all understand this. (Yea TIL sells things, but they are a
business with a clear reason to do so and don't advertise stuff anonymously
on craigs list.)
Anyhow if anyone reading this knows who this is or anyone selling anything
like that out of here please inform the list asap.
If anyone has any questions please call or come talk to me *and take down
that ad please.*
I attach the email from the buyer I asked them to forward, a screenshot of
the CL ad, and the url:

Hi Hol,
that's a really neat welder! If you want to tune it up and make it work
better, you might want to replace the tube that the wire gets pushed
through. When it develops friction, the drive wheel can't push the wire
through reliably.
Fortunately the tube can be replaced with bicycle brake cable! Just get
some of the good stuff (teflon lined) from a bike shop, and razor off the
rubber coating so it fits in place of the original hose. The welder will
work better than new!
As for the flux-core wire, it is very dangerous to use that indoors,
because the flux is for preventing oxidation - and our lungs need to
oxidize! So it should never be used indoors (and using it outdoors will
require a shield so passersby don't see the arc)
At some point we should talk about making a ventilated corner of sudoroom,
where welding and other fume-producing tasks can take place. Hell, maybe
the Robot will be welding by then.

i brought in a small wirefeed welder. it uses fluxcore wire so doesn't
require a shield gas, just turn it on, clamp the ground to your work,
point and click. the wheel that drives the wire from the box through the
cable to the gun doesn't have very good traction, so check there if the
wire doesn't feed. the welder uses 17 amps so only use directly plugged
into an outlet (!!!)
bring steel! the antique saw actually works really well for cutting

Thanks for documenting whats happening w the Robot, Jake. Its like a little movie script in my mind. :)

omg i think i figured out what's wrong
it's not throwing errors for servos 1 and 2 of the robot, it's referring
to the two motors that are not connected, they were part of the assembly
line. We actually have the controllers for both, they were in that huge
metal box I put on the curb (after taking them out) but we only have one

on page 28 of http://servo-repair.com/documents/yaskawa/CACR-SR.pdf
(labeled page 23 in the document) it shows the pins of the connector for
the errors we're getting.
I think if i short the right pins on the connectors, the errors will go
away and it will think the two missing servo controllers are happy, even
though we don't actually want to hook them up to anything.
unfortunately, reconfiguring the ERC controller to know that it doesn't
have two extra motors would require changing the EPROM, and even if we had
a ROM burner handy I wouldn't know what to change.
Does anyone want to play with the robot arm?
