trying to troubleshoot door, but need a multimeter and don't know how to fix our battery-less one

read on if you have a multimeter to lend, or want to understand the door more: ==so-far== a wire came off the rpi gpio pinout. i looked in the code and realized that it is supposed to go to GPIO11, reattached it but still wasn't working, even though confrimed opendoor.py was being called then i shorted past the relay that gpio11 goes to and the door buzzed. we dont have a multimeter so i can confirm if gpio11 is going high, or the relay is burned out. can you help please?

The high network load has made door.sudoroom.org appear down, but it still works.

sudo room access update

hi everyone, the elevator was emergency locked again this morning. it is definitely a problem to have this continue to be an issue, but we are actively working on a solution (ie, coordinating with laurie and george to ensure that we're on the same page regarding the elevator access control system that we installed last week & the subsequent lack of a need to manually lock the elevator). thank you to everyone for their patience as we resolve these issues and thanks to everyone who's a part of the ad hoc phone tree that's been resolving the immediate access problem whenever it arises :) you guys are awesome! - marina

Microcontroller Hack Night - This Tuesday!

I'll be firing up (after a bit of plumbing rework) the beer machine V2.0, doing some RGB LED control using accelerometers, and maybe a few other tidbits here and there. All level users welcome - I can't find the programmer I use for the scratch-build boards so won't be providing any components for those. If you're just starting out and need something to tinker with, there will probably be an extra controller or two on hand you can borrow, or if you want one to take home you can pick one up at radio shack by OG plaza last minute. Hello, A group of people are getting together at Sudo Room Tuesday evening at 7:30 to talk about David Bollier's work on the commons and I wanted to see if anyone from the Sudo Room community wanted to join us. David Bollier is one of the leading common advocates in the US, and believes the language of the commons will allow us to think our way out of the market/state argument that currently consumes most of what passes as political debate in this country. This is part of an ongoing discussion group we've put together to talk about some of the intellectuals and activists, including Bollier himself, who are coming to Oakland in early August for a conference. Lockers are acquired! There are 5 units with 2 lockers each. Each of these 10 lockers has a small square shelf and a tall L-shaped shelf. It turns out these don't need built-in locks, they just have loops to put a padlock through. So folks should probably acquire their own padlocks. How much should we charge for them? I was thinking we could charge a flat rate per locker, and we can share them for discount rates. Who'd like to share with me? :) The ad asked for $50 but the guy dropped it to 40 when he learned what they are for. Instead of reimbursing me, I'll just let it go towards my locker tab. Although membership is of course sliding scale, we should make it clear that locker dues aren't meant to be a substitute for member dues or a new form of special membership. It's just another fundraiser. So everybody pay up, help us cut down on clutter, and enjoy your new lockers!
