Hey All,
Sudo Radio is live at:
http://radio.indybay.org/sudoradio.ogg
After spending way too much time trying all other solutions, the simplest
is the best! Take a look in the Radio Room for instructions on how to
operate everything and talk on air.
PS. As was suggested by Mischa we need a giant "TALK" button. This can be
achieved by making a one button midi controller. which can be done with an
arduino like this, kinda,
http://www.instructables.com/id/Arcade-Button-MIDI-Controller/ Let me know
if you want to help me with that project!
Good Night!

Hi Sudo-Roomers,
Looking for some savvy Linux-admin types to help/advise me to design an installation for some City of Oakland computer labs where I teach web site creation.
If you have some time to give me some advice, please shoot me back an email, I'd be happy to meet up at Sudo room or at an actual city computer lab where I've got a few Ubuntu boxes already running.
Thanks a ton,

Hey Everyone,
I know a lot of people have been interested in the show I have been
concepting for awhile, and since Andrew and I are finally getting our
studio space together, I thought it might be cool to do a kick-starter and
see who is interested in being part of the show.
You can email me separately, if you want to be part of the show and I'll
add you to my list. I'll probably do an open casting call, and talk to
friends at public school.

Anybody interested in beer on making beer on Wednesday Feb 13th or
Friday 15th?
My dad is an experienced brewer and has offered to lead a session. All
experience levels welcome.
Malt extract or whole grains.
whole grain batch takes 6 to 7 hours and is cheaper.
extract takes about 4 hours is about ten dollars more, and is slightly
lower quality.
Porter or Pale Ale.
Your call depending on the interest level. Product can go to sudoroom
supply or however pays for ingredients. 25 - 35 dollars in ingredients
will make 5 gallons which is about 50 bottles. It comes out 50 to 55
cents a bottle for what is usually a 1.70 a bottle for high-quality
micro-beers. %30 to %40 of the cost.
We have all equipment here at our house and can do it here.

hi everyone,
the outside door was stuck in the locked position this morning and i
couldn't unlock it with a key or use the sudodoor wireless to unlock it.
perhaps i misunderstood from last night, but when i connected to sudo door
from my phone, my understanding was that the browser was supposed to
automatically go to the correct url. unfortunately i couldn't use the
sudodoor wireless to connect to any site.
as of now, the door is open (someone else in the building probably unlocked
it, although i'm not sure how). would love to have guidance on
troubleshooting the door if this kind of problem happens again, although
i'm sure that as we develop documentation for the door on the wiki that it
will help with at least some of the problems (i didn't know what url to go
to to enter the pw, for example).
thanks and we are ever closer to having the door issue solved!

Sudo greetings,
Last friday I had the pleasure of visiting Hacklab Belgrade in Serbia and
chatted with a few Balkan hackers. I think their way operating a
hackerspace had a few lessons for sudo room, and wrote a report on the
Wiki:http://sudoroom.org/wiki/Hacklab_Belgrade_2013_Report.
Enjoy,
Notconfusing
Apologies for cross posting.
Are there any Emotiv EPOC or general EEG hackers on the list?
I'm also interested in research and hacking around CES devices. Email me
off-list.

Hey,
Hope that your Clothes Hacking session went well yesterday.
As an FYI to whoever-it-most concerns, your/sudoroom's websites are down.
Already tried to access http://sudoroom.org and
http://lists.sudoroom.org/listinfo/sudo-discuss multiple times.
BOTH of these sudoroom sites continue to time-out.
OTOH http://mediumreality.com and http://coyotecounter.com work perfectly
fine.
Its now 9am PST Sunday morning, 10 February, 2013; the nearby Bowl
opens, like, NOW! (http://www.berkeleybowl.com/ )
Just passing on the above info.

For those looking for FOIA database Ive found a good starting source.
The National Security Archive is an independent non-governmental
research institute and library located at The George Washington

declassified documents acquired through the Freedom of Information Act
(FOIA). A tax-exempt public charity, the Archive receives no U.S.

Hi Sudo,
I am Jeremy Dalmas. I host a monthly informational / performance talk show
called Oakland Nights...Live!, and we are working with the Bay Area Public
School to possibly have the show in the common space of 2141 Broadway on
the evening of March 16th. But since it is a shared space, we wanted to
check with you to see if that would interfere with anything you had
planned, or if you have any concerns or questions. We are still talking
with Public School to figure it out and to confirm if it will happen, but I
wanted to check in with you early on. We are really respectful, very good
at tidying up after a show, and are excited about working with everyone in
the space right now and whoever might occupy the rest of the space. We'd be
happy to stop by any meetings you might have and answer any questions. I've
included a brief summary of our show bellow as well as a link to our
facebook page.
*Oakland Nights…Live!* is a free monthly late-night variety show that is
half Fresh Air, half Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, half Johnny Carson and all
Oakland. On this show audience members & performers, planned acts &
spontaneous interaction, and being entertained & being informed are all
part of the same continuum. We’ve got a house band, poetry readings, live
RPG gaming, indie video game designers, monthly news trivia, town hall Q&A
with candidates for city council, full episode Star Trek re-enactments,
private investigators and astrophysicists phoning in from the south pole. We
do our best to meld them all together into a pleasant Saturday evening.

Hi all!
We at the Open Mechanics Institute need a oxy-acetylene torch (including
gas etc.) to build our first project: the open source ecology CEB Press. (
http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/CEB_Press )
Anyone has one we can borrow / buy? We can arrange pick up of course, and
might even be able to pay a buck or two for renting. We will of course
replenish gas etc.
On the note of our work, if anyone who is skilled in metalwork and
passionate about building and improving on the open source ecology suite,
join us - we meet every Friday at a metalshop close to the Emeryville
homedepot and build.
Make a great day,
The Open Mechanics Institute team :]
Hi All,
Just a quick reminder that we'll be having an informal meeting again
tonight at 6pm at Sudo room to discuss the Open Source Desktop biotech lab
and all are welcome. Tonight will be a short meeting as we'll primarily
just be discussing the parts list for the Open Source PCR (all thoughts
welcome, particularly if you can't attend).
Agenda:
- Intros
- Updates (both the first Incubator and Centrifuge prototypes have been
built and are at Sudo room, now we need to build the PCR and Gel box)
- PCR - parts list for cheapest/decent build
- Order - Ryan will order the parts for us to hopefully hack next week :)
TGIF!

sorry to hit the list with this - I brought a yellow corded power drill during one of the move-in sundays and it is nowhere to be found. probably has "GASKILL" written on it in sharpie, figured someone just borrowed it which is okay as long as it comes back...maybe someone else who brought tools took it back with them?
cheers,
