Hi,
It would be helpful to Omni’s well-being to hack together an array of dBA
readers for monitoring ambient sound levels only around omni’s roof
perimeter. Not this would not record anything other than dB (ambient sound
levels).
Periodic readings from around the perimeter would be continually logged and
ignored until there is a noise complaint, at which point we could review
and determine if omni or some exterior noise has indeed quantifiably
transgressed the time-weighted ambient noise ceiling for our neighborhood /
zone.
Handheld meters are cheap, but ideally what we want is a system monitoring
from multiple points.
I’d anyone has capacity to hack on this with me, preferably with hardware
hacking skills that’s be great - lmk -

Omni Building Working Group is hosting a work and cleaning party on
January 26, from 10am until about 5pm. Meet in the Entrance Hall. Come
through any time and bring your friends.
We will have a list of maintenance and cleaning tasks, and people
available to guide you, if you need assistance. Tasks will probably
include painting, installing occupancy sensors, small repairs,
decluttering, and ballroom and disco room floor repair and cleaning. If
you have a suggestion for a job, let the WG
(building(a)lists.omnicommons.org) know and we may add it to the list.
There will be snacks and drinks.
In the past, work days have been fun and and productive. Lets start the
year with a cleaner, more organized, better functioning building!
Love,
BWG

** Hey
I'll be performing live as part of the California Progressive
Alliance's annual conference on Saturday, January 11th in Oakland, CA.
The event goes all day, and I am definitely not the only thing to see.
I will be performing last, I believe - around 8:30 or 9pm. People
under 25 get in for free. Click here
(https://californiaprogressivealliance.org/?mc_cid=fbf0f202bb&mc_eid=[UNIQID])
for the other details. I will also be doing a meet and greet after the
performance.
I'm going to try to get back to the Bay area later this year, but
right now nothing is set.
Please spread the word!
Keep Fighting,
- Lee

Hi Sudoers,
first of all, happy holidays!!
I've been at the space two or three times but I'm still pretty new here...
I was wondering, what's the state of the big red laser cutter?
I'm working on a project for which I need to cut 5 mm plywood sheets with
some rather intricate patterns.
I've used a rather similar laser at the UC Berkeley before.
Anything I should know before using it?
If it's operational, is there anyone around who could give me a quick
walk-through at some point?
If it's not operational, I'd be happy to help to get it up and running ...
Cheers,
Michael

Anybody down to have a cleaning party sometime in Mid-January, on a
Saturday evening. It would be great cool to clean and party together. We
could accomplish such things collaborating, continue getting rid of unused
stuff and material, mount the nessasary tools to the benches, organize
benches, finish building furniture, etc.
