Hey sudoers ~
If anyone has the spoons, sudo room should apply for some funding from
http://pineapplefund.org/
I'm on vacation with family, already wrote one for Omni and People's Open
and trying to launch the kitchen campaign <https://omnicommons.org/kitchen>,
or I'd do it myself. It's really simple - just a one line description of
the project and a paragraph on how we'd spend the $$$.
Obviously, I think we should ask for ~$10-100K to build out a second level
to the space, upgrade our …
[View More]equipment and supplies, and maybe funds for hard
drives and screens and such so we can fix up broken laptops and distribute
them to our many neighbors in need.
There, I just basically wrote it for ya ;) just needs some polish! and I'm
sure any one of you inventive souls have great ideas on what we could do
with a lil BTC :)
Also, I think we should launch a crowdfunding campaign next year, perhaps
using BitGive's newly-released GiveTrack <https://www.givetrack.org/>
platform. Sudo's never run a fundraising campaign in all of our 6 years of
existence, and the time is ripe to finally do so and build upwards!

Hello all,
I won't be at/hosting js night tonight because it is the holidays and I'm
guessing not many people will be there. Just a heads up. For anyone who is
thinking of going without door access, there will usually be someone around
to let you in, but I can't guarantee it.
Best,
Lesley

Subject: [dorkbotsf-blabber] Gift economy: Firmament LEDs
To: Dorkbot-Blabber <dorkbotsf-blabber(a)googlegroups.com>
Hi,
So last spring/summer I had to replace all of Firmament's LED modules. Now
I have 20,000 or so modules to give away. Most of them work, but I can't
guarantee which ones will and for how long, since they were all treated
badly by the …
[View More]Houston rains.
Each bag contains 435 or 465 modules in strings. The strings are attached
to the bird netting that made up Firmament's old canopy. There are JST
connectors at both ends of most of the strings, and power taps at the end of
every string. All wiring is 18ga.
Each module contains a WS2801 chip and 3 5050 RGB LEDs. They run on 12VDC.
You'll need a PixelPusher or other LED controller to make them do anything.
First come, first served!
Christopher

Greetings omninoms!
For those not yet aware, Omni intends to launch a crowdfunding campaign on
Sunday to raise funds toward renovating the commercial kitchen in the
basement!
*if you get the gist, you can proceed directly to the kitchen wiki page
<https://omnicommons.org/wiki/Kitchen> and/or peruse the CAMPAIGN ACTION
KIT
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YRIoL5jlmgxZMBdLQibWNn39gD7wSLx-EgCBbdM…>*
We need *ALL HANDS ON DECK *to help spread the word. In particular:
- reach …
[View More]out directly to folks in your networks who you think would
donate, and ask them if they could contribute when the campaign launches.
pre-pledges help ensure successful campaigns. here's some sample text
you can use <https://peoplesopen.net/pad/p/kitchen-pre-ask> (tx be to
julian!)
- do you have any press contacts you could tap? we are drafting a press
release
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T3xUefmfxntMbin02Nf--R4BsQslth2SZ7Vl7NA…>
to be published on Monday after our soft 'community launch' and have zilch
lined up so far
- can you or your group offer (and follow through on) a perk/reward for
certain donation levels? get in touch!
- when we launch on sunday, help spread the word by sharing, retweeting,
and sending to any and all relevant mailing lists!
- do you have a spare hour or two to help with social media, press
outreach, door-to-door flyering, graphic design (eg, a facebook cover image
people could use?), making a short video or blog post, organizing an event,
etc? join the kitchen working group mailing list
<https://omnicommons.org/lists/listinfo/kitchen> and/or attend the next
meeting - Wednesdays at 6pm in the Basement Library!
Check out the wiki page at omnicommons.org/kitchen for more info on the
project, including the awesome campaign video
<https://omnicommons.org/omnikitchen.mp4> produced largely by the
ever-rad-Anka (and starring some of the most OG Food Not Bombs organizers!).
-- more info:---
Given the holiday season, the extensive burdens on every activist's energy
these days, and a host of other complexities and circumstances, we've
decided to break up the campaign into 3 phases.
For this first phase, our goal is to raise $15,000 - which will enable us
to pull the permits, demo the walls for expansion of the area, and get most
if not all of our plumbing work done.
The subsequent two phases will have goals of $20K each - though by the end
of this first campaign we hope to have a solid lead or two on a significant
grant or donor.
There are many dangling threads and the kitchen crew could definitely use
more support to carry this off. Please do lend a hand, however which way
you can!
Mad love and dreams of decadent dinners at the Omni ~
