Marc and I did some spot checks for lead in the paint on the CCL side of
the Bocce ball court, including some of the heavily peeling parts on the
North and East wall, and some specks we managed to knock off the ceiling
with a tennis ball.
*No lead in any of the 6 different samples we checked!* Yay! Highly
surprising for a building this age...
We used Lead Check swabs
<https://www.google.com/search?q=lead+check&tbm=shop> by 3M - you should be
able to find them at most paint stores and home improvement stores for
around $10 for two swabs. You might want to get some to test other spaces,
and we may still want to get an official lead inspection at some point. But
so far, this does look very promising...
We also poured two plates to test for mold. Again, around $10 per kit
<https://www.google.com/search?q=pro-lab+mold+test+kit&tbm=shop>, but you
need to pay an extra $40 if you want a lab to identify the specific mold
species. We'll let you know what we find...
Patrik
There were reports of silverfish in the bocce ball court. I have no idea if
anyone tried to address it, but it sounds like they did.
I would put this to sudo-discuss -
Best,
David

Looking for your hand made way cool things!
To make our Noisebridge IndieGoGo campaign more appealing and awesome for higher level donations, we're adding two more reward levels:
$256 -- One ultra way cool handmade thing by a Noisebridge community member. We can't tell you what it will be -- you'll find out when you receive it. We guarantee that it will be handmade, and that its creator made it because they wanted to make a way ultra cool thing!
$512 -- Two ultra way cool handmade things by Noisebridge community members. We can't tell you what they will be -- you'll find out when you receive them. We guarantee that they will be handmade, and that their creators made them because they wanted to make way ultra cool things!
Wanna donate a Cool Handmade Thing for the cause? Please email me! It can be anything! Simple, easy, complex -- it doesn't matter -- as long as it is hand made, and you think it is way cool. Blinky lights, vibrating pillow, a scarf, a science project, a hand crank automata, a photo, painting, toothpick sculpture, an mp3, . . . Anything at all - - as long as it is hand made, and you think it is way cool. You have till October 1st to complete it and get it to Noisebridge.
Please email me if you can help.
Thanks!
Mitch.
Hey Sudo Room,
Noisebridge is holding a Class-a-Thon between August 9th and August 15th.
All we need are awesome and talented folks like yourselves to teach a few
classes!
You can do a one-off class you've been meaning to try for a while, or a
tried-and-true stand-by you've been teaching forever, or even a discussion
group or workshop.
This is the week leading up to our Reboot Party, so it's sure to come with
lots of excitement and fresh energy.
See below emails for details!
Cheers,
Naomi

Simpler version:
If you can teach a class on ANYTHING, and you can do it between August 9th
to 15th, please contact Jeffrey:
jeffreyatw(a)gmail.com
We'd love to have a huge variety of classes for this week-long event.
Suggestions / Examples:
* programming
* lockpicking
* CPR
* circuit bending
* cross-stitch / needlepoint
* wearable electronics
* kombucha making
* radio broadcasting
* streaming audio/video
* ...?
* PROFIT
Contact Jeffrey, let him know your availability, and he'll get you on the
schedule.
Doing this class-blitz will go a long way towards introducing many
different people the way we've upgraded the space, and of course encourage
a few donations along the way. :)
Cheers,
Naomi

Awesomeness: Thanks David K, David ?, Jeremy, and Sally for your help.
That was a lot of stuff!!
The area got 96% cleared up. We moved the 2 Two Posts Racks, and the
improvised server cart holding three two Servers and a Dell Desktop.
If someone could clear up the rest of the stuff would super! What is
left? A black big cabinet, and miscellaneous stuff left on and around
the shelf.
Many Thanks!
p.s. staged-photo ;) hehe
Hello All,
Just we all know:
DONATION RECEIVED:
We have received a donation of 2 Two Post Racks. Thanks Chris!! The
donation easily saved us about 400 dollars. We only needed one for
production, but Jeremy and I already have discussed how we can use the
second one (training for those who would like to learn how to reset
passwords, erase config files, and or do OS upgrade on the spare Cisco
Switches that we have. :) -Oh yeah... we couldn't wait and installed a
couple of switches on one of the racks! :)
SCREWS AND CAGE NUTS:
Anyhow: for those that know how messy can get with having the wrong kind
of screws and cage nuts: We have narrow it down to have the donated
racks tread as a model to use for the Server Rack square holes. So when
we trying to install a switch or rack mount server/device we won't go
bunkers trying to figure out what screws should be use. The screws we
are using are 12-24.
SERVER RACK STATUS:
And talking about the Server Rack.... Last Friday I checked with the
Vendor and I am glad I did.
There was some wrong info in the billing part of the order, it did get
corrected then. So now that detail got cleared up, the estimate shipping
date is August 16. Yes, until then since this is a back-order.
Thanks!
Daniel
