open thread for update on our door access mechanisms

keypad update: with new self-healing improvements has just set record uptime at 30 hours. i am monitoring this. the problem is that rpi sometimes chokes and the arduino comes up as a different usb device. so i constantly scan and to find the right usb device. an issue is that the rfid needs to be usb0 so it has to grab that first, and normally does in every instance ive seen it (unless the pyshical usb order gets switched).

hi everyone, we are at the meeting and have been discussing the status of our various door access mechanisms. as we were discussing them, we realized that we were partly in a fog of unknowing. so this email is a request for information on the status of our different mechanisms: - door.sudoroom.org: FUNCTIONAL - rfid: unfunctional this morning - unclear function now - keypad: unfunctional this morning, functional this evening: WHY? =O - buzzer: unfunctional this morning, functional after jordan logged in and restarted the mouseread daemon. for folks who are working on these systems, it would be great if you could let the list know what the known issues are with these systems, where we're at, and what work needs to be done. please consider this an open thread for updates on the status of our access systems. thanks! marina

Sudo Room Neighborhood Outreach

Hey folks, I've started a spreadsheet to list nearby (1 mile radius) community organizations, schools, churches, non-profits etc to reach out to. Next step would be to put together a flier of some sort that could list some of the activities that happen in the space (eg TIL, Sudo Kids, Microcontroller Hacking Night, Hacker Happy Hour, etc) and some of the ongoing projects (Community Democracy Project, Oakland Wiki, the Mesh Network group, etc;).
