I'm building a video intercom to let people at Omni's front door ring whatever collective they want. It's just a screen with four buttons underneath for scrolling and selecting, and if they select Sudo Room it'll initiate a video connection with the internal video conference system. I can set it up to send a message on Slack to a designated channel or an email, or some other notification if other collectives want. The problem is that I'm using a personal Raspberry Pi that I use regularly as a 3D printer server. My intention was to use this one during development and order a dedicated one, but I really didn't appreciate how scarce Raspberry Pis are. Does anyone have one? If I had a preference, my first choice would be a Raspberry pi 3 A. unneeded flourescent light bulbs at sudoroom

there are two boxes of F32T8 flourescent light bulbs consisting of over 50 bulbs. I'm guessing someone brought them here thinking they would be useful but I don't see how that would be the case, so hopefully whoever brought them can take them away, unless they think sudoroom needs them for some reason and they will supply the light fixtures for them -jake

Membership $ to sudoroom via omni

Hey so I did what I was instructed to some months ago, I donated to Omni commons because my employer can match donations and that's only possible to Omni commons because they are an an official non-profit. I sent an email to finance(a)omnicommons.org and say "I want this to go towards sudoroom", but I haven't received any answer, can anyone confirm if that worked? Help! My computer is autoscrolling right (and other strange phenomena) and I don't know why!

I have a fun riddle (it's actually a computer problem please help). As of this evening, I think my toddler did something to my computer, and now I'm experiencing the following: - All windows that have a left-right scroll bar scroll to the right continuously whenever the mouse is over the field (even if another window is active) - This usually only occurs if the mouse is stationary. If it’s moving at all, it doesn’t happen. - The effect occurs in Google Spreadsheets in Firefox and Chrome, in a file browser and Libre Office Spreadsheet. - The effect occurs regardless of mouse motion in Firefox. - If I hover over the tabs in firefox it shifts over to the next tab to the right until it gets to the right-most place - The effect doesn’t occur if the mouse is moving - It doesn’t occur in Firefox - It moves at about 2-3 tabs per second - If I press “ctrl” in Firefox the browser zooms out. - The effect doesn’t occur in Chrome - I can’t drag windows. The cursor turns into a hand, but then turns back into a cursor within a fraction of a second. Sometimes I can move the page in little steps before it happens. - I can’t resize windows. The cursor changes into a drag emblem, and it doesn’t change back, but moving the page does nothing. - I can still drag objects on the desktop. - I can still click and drag to highlight things. The effect appears specific to window manipulation - If I hover over a dropdown in the Linux settings settings menus, it scrolls. I tried switching mouses and keyboards, so it doesn't appear to be a hardware issue. I think it's some kind of weird mobility or accessibility feature, or maybe two interacting in a weird way. Locking and unlocking door to CCL and Sudo

We have been waiting for a sensing system to be programmed for security in CCL and sudo room. Meanwhile, there have been incidents in and around the Omni that raise security concerns. Starting in August we will start closing and locking the entry door. If someone is having a workshop and wants to keep an open door for the duration, that's cool, prop it open. When you exit the area please close the door and check that it locked. Here's how to unlock the door: 1. check to see no one is watching you 2. press the lever/switch on the box to the left of the door (see photo) while saying "open sesame" 3. push open the door and enter. Re: Preparing CCL for rain storm tonight

Ok, just checked the roof drains - look fine - and swept the roof of anything that might clog them. Very few leaves so far, but if this rain storm comes with high winds, it may be good to have someone check tomorrow as well. Don't have time to do any spot-patching up on the roof - anyone know where those materials are, and which ones we should be using right now that have a short dry time? Currently splitting open some large trash bags I brought in, to cover some of the remaining valuables... Come hack on open source spectophotometry this Tuseday at 8 pm at sudo room

I'll be at sudo room again this Tuesday evening at 8 pm hacking on an open hardware/software brain replacement for old HPLC UV/vis spectrometers: https://gitlab.com/juul/spectrometer-resurrector If you have any interest in this project, come hang out and chat/hack with me! This project can especially benefit from the help of anyone with interest or experience in microbiology, spectrometry, microcontroller programming, web development or digital/analog electronics, but of course everyone is welcome to join in regardless of experience or skill level! Last Tuesday we investigated the power source for the deuterium arc lamp and schemed on a design for an open hardware replacement.
