I am not so much about video based security as I
am wanting to see more
"lockup" space for members. Sudo has added these nice larger (some of them
lockable if members bring a lock) containers in their space. I like this.
They are larger and able to store a more reasonable sized space for
"hackers". I know this is one a lot of other peoples radar as well, I just
wanted to say that I care about it and have my eye out for more of these
kinds of stackable secure storage solutions.

As far as social pressure goes - I want to make it clear that I am not
specifically advocating in favor of video surveillance. I just wanted to
better understand what the landscape of attitudes around this topic at the
Omni looks like, since I remembered this topic coming up at Sudo in the
past as well.
Yar - is your objection specifically with video? Or would you have
similar objections if we had a motion sensor or RFID system that allowed
tracking people throughout the different rooms in the building? In this
case, there'd be no images that could be used for surveillance outside the
Omni, and it would be impossible to tell what people are doing in the
different rooms, but there would still be information on attendance and
association patterns that could theoretically be abused by a 3rd party.

Patrick,
This messages is between you and myself, for the moment.
I say we have all the resources at OMNI for building industrial security
capable of earning Yar's trust.

I try hard to avoid bragging, until it might be useful. RENIEC is an
acronym for a government agency in Peru. Any adult Peruvian with a
National ID card knows what it stands for.
Let's start collecting requirements for OMNI internal secure storage,
both physical and digital.
By all means, it is to early to trust claims contained here-i.
Today I'm short on time, but will have more time Sunday evening and hope
to stop by then.
