Hi Jonathan, thanks for looking into this, using the
laptops make sense then. I made a list of all laptops inventory but that was almost a year
ago, maybe I should do another one just to check which one is working/not working.

Hi Juliana,
I looked into this this evening, there are a couple of obstacles:
- There are very few spare/extra keyboards/mice, so the mac minis, even if set up
correctly, would be difficult to use.
- One of the mac minis in question has 500MB of RAM, and will be of limited use to anyone
using modern applications.
I think a couple of the laptops that are hanging around above those shelves might be more
helpful as spare computers for people to use on wnb night.
IMO, the mac minis are probably best utilized as budget media center options, or
relatively low-power usage servers. If/when we're interested in doing so, I have a
Debian 11 disc specifically for i386 macs I burned that I'm happy to bring by to
share.

(
https://energyusecalculator.com/electricity_laptop.htm), an average laptop uses 60w. So
the mini might be a good solution for us. I don't have the expertise necessary to
test/compare power draw of a given laptop though; would anyone be interested in doing so?
I'd love to learn.
