I would love to teach people how to use KiCAD
sometime, perhaps on a
tuesday night at sudoroom.
in the meantime, anyone who is interested in using it should go ahead and
install it, using one of the methods i described in my previous message.

I actually don't think they're that different. KiCAD might be slightly
more confusing and buggy than EAGLE, but not by much. I just haven't done
quite as
much with it.
Actually, a group KiCAD workshop might be a cool thing to have at a Sudo
hardware night.

Eagle is closed-source payware. They let you design small boards
for free, but if your design grows outside of the part count or space
limit, you have to pay to make larger designs. It is a
capitalistic enterprise.
KiCAD is a FOSS project written by people who do it for the love,
and did i mention that all the source code (and software) is free?
I know that a lot of people are into EAGLE because it's "easy" and
popular, but I think we should support Free & Libre software when we
can... and we can, because KiCAD totally works.
I made these boards with KiCAD recently:

I attended an Eagle workshop last year and created a few
board designs. Not sure how much I remember but I wouldn't mind playing
with it again.

Hi.
I'm trying to write up an EAGLE board layout and failing
miserably. I'm using the freeware EAGLE suite for the mac. Dunno if
that's making my life harder
than usual or not, but does anyone have recommendations for
good EAGLE tools and/or willing to help me figure out how to work
this thing?
