Ok the Beampro telepresence robot has a battery now, but it is apparently
no longer supported by the company! That's ok because we can hack it and
use it without their cloud service.
Basically it's a Linux computer on a stand, with a battery The
automatically charges when it is parked at its dock like a Roomba. The
whole file system is on an SD card plugged into the back. It has really
nice Wi-Fi hardware, and USB ports. And it has a couple of cameras, and of
course a motorized base which is connected through USB.
We need to look through the software that it runs, and figure out how to
control the motors to make it drive around. Then we can make a web
interface so that people can log into it and drive around in sudo room.
And then we can add arms!
Who is interested in working on this? I copied the data from the SD cards
if you want to take a look and try to understand how it works.
