Hi Jonathan, thanks for looking into this, using the laptops make sense
then. I made a list of all laptops inventory but that was almost a
year ago, maybe I should do another one just to check which one is
working/not working.

IMO, the mac minis are probably best utilized as budget media center
options, or relatively low-power usage servers. If/when we're interested in
doing so, I have a Debian 11 disc specifically for i386 macs I burned that
I'm happy to bring by to share.

Looks like idle laptop power draw, on average, is well below the mac
mini's 23W.
FWIW, I think the Mac minis, if loaded with a lightweight linux distro,
could be used for a basic coding class, or perhaps a DVD player.

Last time Rajah and I went looking, we couldn't find any pis, and the

The mac minis I saw (and the one I have at home, which was of a similar
model) are
late 2006, and according to apple have an idle power draw of

Assuming the info I found is right (
https://energyusecalculator.com/electricity_laptop.htm), an average
laptop uses 60w. So the mini might be a good solution for us. I don't have
the expertise necessary to test/compare power draw of a given laptop
though; would anyone be interested in doing so? I'd love to learn.
