Hello Juliana,
I am supporting the Omni Commons finance working group. It would help to
know what form did the donation transaction happen? Was it through our
donation portal founded on our website? Or possibly delivered in check/cash
form? Other details Shirlee stated above will also help in the search.
Happy to track the donation and then authorize a receipt :)

Jake, #1 was true a couple months ago, but Omni now has a very active
finance team who are working hard to reconcile 3+ months of recent
transactions. Marking donations as restricted funds towards a fiscally
sponsored project is not unusual and is not a problem. The team just
needs more time to catch up.
The only awkward part about it, in this case, is that we're not simply
adding a number to sudoroom's balance, but rather we're subtracting a
small number from a much larger number which is sudoroom's debt to
omni and which may very well get forgiven anyway. But either way it is
appreciated and recognized!

I believe the answers are like this:
1. we (Omni) are presently in-between accountants, so the person most
qualified
to help doesn't exist at the moment (although
someone should pipe up if
they
know more than what i'm about to say)
2. sudoroom is a fiscally-sponsored project of the Omni Commons, which
means
that with a letter to that effect, donations
directly to sudoroom can be
claimed as tax-exempt using the non-profit ID number (EIN) of Omni
Commons
3. donating to omni commons and asking for the funds to be considered
"sudoroom
donations" might require some fiddling and
sounds confusing. It would
probably
be better to donate directly to sudoroom and use
the above method to get
it
exempt.
