Hi Yardena,
An open space should be fine for us. There is one item (it’s a die for
manufacturing) that is sharp and potentially hazardous but CHC can work on
sourcing a trunk or similar to protect that. A lockable cabinet would also
suit.
Thanks,
Julie

Hi Julie, sorry if I've misread something -
are you asking for storage
space that's enclosed with 4 walls and secure/lockable? Or are you
able to work with storage space that's more open, such as an area of
the basement with open shelves, or something in between like lockable
cabinets? Thanks.

Hi all!
Sorry for the delayed response, I needed to run a few things back to
the group. I
wasn't able to find anyone who could make Thursday's meeting
but I should be able to make the next one, if that suits.
1. Liability insurance -
We had liability insurance for our previous location and should be
able to set
that up again fairly quickly through our insurance
representative if things move forward. Our current location is a storage
facility that has insurance built into the cost.
2. Budget -
At our last meeting, we discussed how much we could sustainably raise
each month
for operations (separate from aid material costs), and believe
$400 / month is feasible.
Our current storage footprint is 250 square feet.
We're hoping for
access to a similar amount of space, but totally understand if
we need to
scale back for that price. We have some upcoming distributions that may
help alleviate some of our
stored item space usage.
Thanks,
Julie

aid group that manufactures and distributes items to meet community needs.
We strive to make our work truly mutual - asking for reciprocity from the
recipients of the goods we create, and building sustained networks within
the communities we work with in solidarity against these common struggles.
A lot of our work up until this point has been centered around public
health items. Some past projects we have produced are hand sanitizer,
sanitizing wipes, ‘n88’ filtration covid-19 masks, and box fan air
purifiers capable of filtering wildfire smoke. If you’re interested in

Because our model involves the construction of products at some scale, in
addition to bulky distribution items such as tables, signage and so on,
we’re ideally looking for ground floor space or space that is otherwise
amenable to loading cars. Because we’re working with filtration devices,
we also want to avoid any spaces that might contain mold. For reference on
size, our current storage location is roughly 250 sq ft. Another plus
would be to have a place to work in order to prepare materials for builds,
which is a relatively short operation, a few hours or so every few weeks.
