I want to say that I’m sorry for the inappropriate email I sent out banning
Trevor. I thoughtlessly sent out an email full of complaints from a third
party which should have been kept private. This was a violation of both
parties' privacy, and contains a lot of harmful and dehumanizing language
that no one should have to experience. And worse, the unequal treatment of
a POC constitutes a racist double standard. I want to apologize for the
harm I’ve caused, and the damage and trauma I’ve caused by making POC in
our community feel unwelcome and targeted.
I sent out the message after receiving multiple complaints on multiple
channels, giving it a sense of intensity and urgency and was concerned
there was some immediate ongoing incident which now doesn’t seem to be
true. We have caught a lot of flack for not having a way to respond to
urgent issues, but I was not in a good mental state to be responding to
incidents, and was irresponsible for me to share this information. It was
illogical for me to respond at all, Safe Space Bans are only for people in
the building who feel unsafe, and other longer term bans are handled in
committee.
Again I want to say that I’m sorry for the harm that I’ve caused and
endangering our community. I hope I can regain the trust of those affected
by my actions.
