in order to raise funds and continue our mission of education, i have been
thinking we should host a hacker's conference at the omni sometime after
the new year.
what do you think?
some possibilities might include:
inviting other hackerspaces to participate
getting keynote speakers to appear remotely (richard stallman, edward
snowden ;)
sat & sunday event
stream event live
organize news team to engage online stream audience

some of us have been starting to scheme on a multi-faceted event at the
omni that will include talks on mesh and biohacking for the week/weekend
after the spring equinox. basically taking over most of the omni for 3-5
days and having talks/socializing/hacking. So far it seems like we have
people who'd be interested in helping out from the following groups:
* Sudo Mesh
* Sudo Room
* Counter Culture Labs
* Bay Area Applied Mycology
~5 months is probably enough time to work with.
It'd be great to get some out-of-towners to participate so let's see if we
can find some travel funding to fly people in. I'm sure we can get a pool
of people to offer spare rooms and couches for the out-of-towners to sleep
so we really only need to pay for flights. I'm also confident that we can
pull together enough free food for everyone.
Suggestion for theme: "Free/Open/Ethical/Decentralized/etc. alternatives to
everything".
