thank you so much bill! this was an absolutely urgent need and i would like to extend a million thank yous to you for fixing it. we will suffer through the lack of a single sign on, but that pain is worth it for the pleasure of having the wiki up and running. i'd like to also take a moment to thank others who have been doing awesome stuff for the sudo community (if i have left you off the list this is my oversight and not an intentional slight!): thanks to andrew & jordan for working on the outside door - this is imperative! thanks to mitch for the soldering workshop yesterday thanks to naomi for organizing the radio room (i'm sorry, but i unplugged the ethernet switch because it was giving me some trouble!) thanks to whoever has been getting the site up and running every time it goes down thanks to ray for feeding us at meetings and to all who have taken on the roles of exchequer, facilitator, note taker, and last minute etherpad switcher thanks to everyone who has been trying to improve our conflict resolution process thanks to morten for bringing his family by to see the space and say hello and thanks to everyone else who comes to the space, hacks at the space, brings others to the space, and works to improve things that allow our community to work better together and love sudo room. - marina On Sat, Mar 23, 2013 at 10:10 PM, William Budington <bill(a)inputoutput.io>wrote: > The wiki has been fixed, there was a problem with the wordpress common > login with mediawiki plugin. Anyone seen the 4x4 keypad?

Hi All, Has anyone seen the 4x4 keypad thats been laying around the space for a while? Its got a regular set of buttons you would find on a touch tone phone plus A - D? PS losing this will not delay the door project as i have a spare, but that one already had headers sodered on. Thanks, Andrew

I think while its apparent that a discussion on issues of privilege, who is sheltered from what types of harm by existing social structures, and related topics are beyond the reach of this discussion, some of the statements i'm seeing in this sound like garden variety victim blaming. So reset your wiki passwords https://sudoroom.org/wiki/page/Special:PasswordReset and you'll get a new temporary pw emailed to you. Whatever your take on safe spaces and openness, this discussion may help to inform your conception of potential dangers to different members of the community. We talk about it openly, and I'm glad talk is open. Information is our best tool here. My "Today I Learned" this Sat

Hi, I wanted to start publicizing my workshop this Saturday for Today I Learned. But it looks like the wiki for Today I Learned is broken. Is it still OK to do the workshop on Saturday afternoon? My idea is to teach anyone and everyone to solder using lots of fun and intriguing kits for total beginners to complete successfully (and cool enough for experts to enjoy, too). TV-B-Gone kits, Brain Machine kits, blinky-light kits, and lots, lots more. Anyone can learn this stuff! All skill levels, all ages -- all welcome! That number might be high or low as it related to “devices” but I think it seriously underestimates the number of connected things that we’ll need to eventually contend with—by several orders of magnitude. The real number is likely in the trillions. The driver, of course, is Moore’s law. John Clippinger reports that an Android phone can be had for $30 in some places. That same connected, computational, sensor platform will cost $3.00 and then $0.30 and then $0.03. When a wireless sensor platform costs $0.03 where will it be? Everywhere. Everything, even disposable things like razors or pens, will be gathering data…about you. We probably don’t really have a choice about whether a $0.03 wireless sensor platform will exist. Technology marches on. But we do have a choice about how it will be employed. If we follow the path we’re on now, all those devices will be controlled by some company somewhere that is providing the service behind them. [snip]
