As the Oroboros event upstairs in the ballroom will be starting soon, from
8:30 to 9:30, competeing sounds and a lack of 7:15 attendees mean whomever
wasn't able to make it ealier, but would like to come, can still see the
screening of "Nothing" by Vincenzo Natali.

pair programming is a great way to learn and share computer skills. It is
best practiced at a desk where both people can see the same screen, and
each other's face at the same time - and each person has their own
keyboard and mouse.
as you can see here, I made a pair programming station (with help) for us:

it has everything it needs except for ONE MORE USB MOUSE so if you have an
extra, bring it on. ideally a matching DELL mouse.

this is a picture of the good one. If you have a caster like this that is
not broken, please bring it in and put it on the cart.
i'm trying to make it have wireless (it's a desktop computer right now)
which means learning about openWRT, to make a wifi bridge to ethernet.
That way wherever the cart is, it will have internet with spare ethernet
ports, for your beaglebone or whatever you're hacking on to plug into.
but of course, you don't need to use the computer on the cart - you can
plug the VGA cable into your laptop and the USB cable (one for both
keyboards and mice) into your laptop, and use that.
the two monitors are hard-wired to a single VGA cable, and don't try to
change it. i had to make that cable. and the screens are screwed down.

Hey all,
there's a 48hr live broadcast of hackathon-like happenings around the
world, HQ'd at Omni Nov 15 & 16. It's called Deconstruction (see
thedeconstruction.org) and it consists of a small crew of people on-site to
manage the video feed and possibly tour Omni.
The organizers asked me about Internet bandwidth... I haven't speed-tested
anything and figured there were folks who knew our capacity better.
Does anyone know the typical and min/max Internet upload/download heft?
Might it be >10mb? >20mb?

Right now we have 10 lockers at Sudoroom. Most of them have locks, but
no names, so we don't know who uses them. From now on, if you are
using a locker, please:
* label the locker with a name, nym, email or other contact info
* send an email to sudo-discuss or info(a)sudoroom.org to say which
locker you've taken
* pay if you can. right now we are asking $30/month although we're
open to other models.
If some lockers are still unidentified after a month or two, we may
take extreme measures...

Protecting the Internet -- 2015 Fellows will work on a range of issues

diverse pool of talent out there.

Just to update everyone on the proposal for the space I'm hoping to use for
my work at the Omni. If there is consensus on it I'd like to continue
preparing the space this month to move into it in November.
The space I'd like to print in is the old utility room adjacent to the
cafe. Once the kitchen is moved I will move the wall behind the stoves back
to where it is in the floor plans, leaving a hallway that supplies
sufficient egress to the exit.
For the wash out room I would like to use a portion of the upstairs spa
room, as in the drawing below. Although it wold be nice to have that on the
same floor as my shop I'm not sure that installing the plumbing to the area
near the walk in fridge is as feasible financially or time-wise right now.
Perhaps that can be done further down the road.
I'd also like to have a small desk at some shared office space in the
building. Maybe either the ticket room or the old TIL space?
If the delegates approve this proposal I'd like to ask that the utility
room no longer be used to store trash. I am willing to help get the
building some more larger trash cans from waste management if the working
group in charge of those facilities is interested in that.
I'm looking forward to discussing this with you all on Thursday night.
