Hi Sudoroom,
as sudoroom delegate i have to represent sudoroom on this important issue.
Also I think it's pretty obvious what needs to be done. Sudoroom is still
behind on rent with Omni Commons and we need increased monthly donations to
get on track!
Ask each other and yourselves to check on your monthly donations through
https://sudoroom.org/humans
or make donations at
https://sudoroom.org/donate

Subject: Re: [omni-consensus] Omni taxes payment plan immediately
I have not heard back from anyone but Sarah on this issue and it's extremely
pressing and important. To reiterate, we have to start a payment plan on our
$300,000 delinquent property taxes or the county can auction off our building.
We are in the process of getting an exemption for much of that money but until
it goes through, we have to pay it. If the exemption goes through we will get
a refund in case we overpaid, but most likely we will still owe the amount we
are about to pay.
We have to pay $60,000 by the end of MAY (less than 2 weeks) or else we have
to pay $60,000 in JUNE plus an additional $2700 in interest. This is not a
hard choice.
We will discuss this at tonights delegates meeting. The form (attached) just
needs my signature and of course a check for $60,398.63 (20% + $75 application
fee)
People are going to say "we don't have the money" because some of our money is
"earmarked" for certain things, or hasn't been paid yet by collectives that
are behind on rent (primarily because nobody has been reminding them) but WE
DO HAVE THE MONEY and it's pretty silly to lose the building over "earmarked"
funds.

Hi Jake,
I've filled out the attached form here.
If you have easy access to a printer you can print it, sign, date, and add
your phone #, and mail it with a check to the address on the form. CHECK
AMOUNT: $60,398.63 (that's the 20% installment plus $75 application fee).
If you prefer, I can mail this to Omni or your home or wherever (just let me
know a good mailing address) and include a priority mail envelope to the tax
collector's office plus an envelope for them to mail us the receipt. I can set
it up to track with its arrival at the tax collector's office via my USPS
account so you will just need to sign, add the check, seal the envelope and
drop it in the mail.
You can also take it in person to the tax collector in Alameda if you are
nervous about mailing a large check. Just let me know how you'd like to
proceed.

It's nice to have the Omni Commons building so that we can have sudoroom in it
(and for other reasons)
unfortunately we have to find a new loan, since our present one expires in
December, and we will have to come up with almost $900,000 and the only way to
do that is with another loan. We have the building as collateral, and it's
worth a lot, but for various reasons it's not as easy to get a loan as you
might think.
Does anyone want to work on this so we don't lose the building? Literally
we have no prospects right now.

This is a pretty casual blog post but with permission from Juliane and the others. I’d like to start posting more peoples personal projects here if they are not on the blog
Thinking about maybe doing a today I learned which we used to do 10 years ago. The topics were pretty cool back then they range from Mads to Computer Science to stuff like cooking. I think I can’t remember.
Also, now that everything‘s opening up again it’s pretty cool I’m hanging out at the mechanics library in mannys in San Francisco mission there is so much stuff going on involved with a local community.
I’m just trying to think of ways to bring that stuff back to Sudoroom because I definitely do bring it but it’s all inside my head like I’m going to go see the SF opera folks talk about the stuff that they’re doing at the Mechanics’ library tomorrow night. Had to bring stuff like that into the Sudoroom like also a Mechanics’ library has a big chess club. Maybe they can do a chest and I’ll ballroom someday I’m not sure it’s like something like that would be like really cool I think.
Sent from my iPhone
I wanted to print stuff tonight on the paper printer (the 2D one) and there
used to be several, but there don't appear to be any now. Where'd they go?
