This artist is visiting town and wanted to know if he could speak at Sudo Room or give away any art. I told him that we don't have anyone dedicated to organizing this kind of event, but that I'd ask if anyone wants to. It spans roughly four feet by five feet. I want to give it away in a raffle to anyone that shares a smile. This year being in a position of comfort, it pained me greatly to see everyone around me struggling with the rising costs of everything. Being from Guatemala I have a deep knowledge of plants and how to cultivate them. I volunteered my time at a giant garden in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, operated by the local food bank. I realized that I was focusing on the wrong things, while it was great to feed people, as a painter I couldn't stand by and not feed their souls. Given that fine Art is mostly out of reach from the working class, I decided that I would rather "sell" my painting for smiles. I want to provide people struggling for survival, to have some kind of hope. In our politicized world it is hard to be kind to others and not guarded. What we need is community and unity. I feel like this project gets at the core of what future artists will provide the world. If you would like I can provide files for ready-to-print media including a poster with a QR code and printable raffle tickets from anyone that does not have a 'smart' telephone. As well as the poem about the painting. I will be in the Bay Area during Nov.8th-Nov.23rd promoting my Art and the seven works of writing I completed during COVID lockdowns in Canada, while also working on my stand-up comedy and music at any open mics I can get into. I would be happy to give a brief Artists talk outlining the project and the future role of Artists as we fight to stay relevant in a world where AI threatens all our livelihoods. Attached are some media provided to me from the Saskatoon food bank while my painting was in their space. It's not required, but as a working Artist I would greatly appreciate any honorarium (if your organization can afford it) to help me with my travel expenses and shipping cost for the painting. Foreclosure

Hello SUDO, I'm sorry to announce that the Foreclosure is moving forward and will have ~ 90 days to come up with around 1 million dollars or the building can be sold. - We will keep the ball rolling with our conversations with CAST to potentially come up with the needed funds - We will of course be looking into any other funding options, ideas are always welcome Best William *Below is correspondence and some notes from our Lawyer: * *Just wanted to let you know that the Mulberry Trust will be proceeding with foreclosing on the property. A new trustee will be taking over the work and proceed with the foreclosure. Mulberry Trust also wanted to let you know that they'll be adding a late fee of $283.90 to the principal since Omni didn't make a payment for April. Once the foreclosure is filed, they won't be able to accept any further payments. It's truly unfortunate that this happened but the MT did not have any other choice given the circumstances, and it does not look like there will be an assignment of the note to another individual or entity. * *Below is an email I sent you previously regarding the timeline and Omni's right to pay the debt even after foreclosure begins. Note that the longer you wait, the more legal incurred by lender Omni will have to pay. Let me know if there's any way I can help.* *----* *If they proceed as quickly as possible, they can schedule a* *foreclosure sale no sooner than 90 days after the date on which theyrecord a notice of default. Because the loan is a commercial loan, itis on a fast timeline.1. SudoRoom report last week (April)

Last week was pretty great! - I held down the fort and explored web-based virtual reality projects during the women and nonbinary hack and do whatever nights. In the middle of job searching so can't do much more but I plan a workshop on Blender + web virtual reality between all headsets. Tuesday hacker night Continues to be cool. I went and haven't had time to mess with the robot, but Jake is making progress. Had a dream of one day hooking up a virtual reality headset with a game controller to the robot so that people with a Quest or VisionPro could view the space with their headsets and interact with people. Maybe there's a cheaper open source way to do it with webcams. That would be cool! Might be a future project. More people coming to the space that I met at Augmented reality hackathons. It's cool! Hope we can get more artsy people in too. It's just great to be able to socialize and talk in the space. While we do talk start-up shop talk, it's nice to have a space where you're not pressured to monetize by VCs. The last sessions at SudoRoom have been fun, I had time to explore and hack. While it's nice to see presentations by outside people, it's nice to return to the roots of sudoroom, which is using it as a hackerspace. For orientation maybe we can have "here's how to contribute to the wiki" We had a nice session two weeks back where many people expressed interest in using Blender. So a "Blender for noobies" event. The MADE game museum in Old oakland has meetups wednesdays for digital creators. Would like to involve them with SudoRomo, especially around light projectors Just don't have time lately. Women who code has disbanded, which leaves a big spaces for people who want to meet. Fortunately and unfortunately most women's groups revolve around people who are looking for a job =P While I'm an idealist and want to have spaces for people who love programming for the fun of it (long term I think these people are also more employable) will probably plan some "get a job" leetcode heck meetups for the women and non binary night. Some not so fun stuff: There are a number of VC-funded "third space" "hackerspaces" popping up in San Francisco mostly. They are great, but I've noticed some of them are planting people in SudoRoom sometimes to get them to go to those for profit spaces. It's a strong hunch I believe to be true, but if you are doing so, please be transparent. Have had encounters with people who come to hackerspaces (they won't be named) using it as a dating service. FYI sudoroom and Noisebridge are not dating services for guys desperate to have a girlfriend. I have yet to meet a cool woman who comes to hackerspaces who is hot to date guys there. CAST Introduction

Hello Folks, The meeting with CAST was incredibly sweet and wholesome. They shared more about their values. We shared a number of our existing problems OMNI has had in the past, we also shared the essence of who we are, what we do, and what we believe. They appeared to be genuinely impressed and excited. We also gave them a tour of the building. While they didn’t give us much information on whether they have intention to help us with our many needs, I believe they see hard work that has gone into the OMNI, the positive outcomes it has delivered in the past, as well as the potential it has for great things in the future. The next meeting is on May 1 (6:30-8PM) to discuss representation and experience for QTBIPOC Collective Members. If you are QTBIPOC and would like to attend please reach out. I'm all in on augmented reality. I'm still thinking a lot about light projection. I have been busy, haven't had time to stop by. Will try to make it to hardware hack night Tuesdays! One positive change is that I've been minimizing as much as possible the presentations I've had to look at this week. I think I just saw too many. Another thing is, I'd like to come to sudoroom and focus entirely on hacking.
