According to article below Grocery Outlet applied for a liquor license
at the former Walgreen’s location.
“...Temescal is experiencing a bit of a boom: Recent openings include
pickleball social club Pickle Athletics and coffee shop Alleyway Cafe,
while buzzy spots like “martini dive bar” Tallboy and natural wine bar
Snail Bar continue to thrive. Still, the area is not immune to the
challenges faced by the rest of Oakland: Beloved brewery Roses’ Taproom
shuttered in November after eight years, citing a decline in business.
Temescal Brewing, a brewery of nearly 10 years, filed for bankruptcy in
October but remains open…”

In the light over world events, I hope this doesn’t sound frivolous, but I got a really beautiful Armani , casual jacket for $20. I can post photos, but I need very specific buttons because the Taylor won’t fix it without the buttons and they have the Armani logo on them. Has anyone tried doing 3-D printing or something for these kinds of situations? I know buttons have to be a lot more strong than Most, but it is possible to print metal now

Hi Fixit Coaches:
We have a Fixit Clinic this Wednesday Jan 21 at Northeastern U. / Mills
College:
https://makerspaces.northeastern.edu/events/repair-advice-clinic-4/
Can you Coach? Sign up at http://bit.ly/inpersoncoachsignup
The campus has a beautiful and well-equipped Makerspace complex and the
adjacent Mills College Art Museum is open until 8PM Wednesdays so feel
free to arrive early and walk the campus or visit the museum.
These events are important public-facing outreach programming to raise
the prominence of sudoroom / Omni Commons and recruit new members as we
work alongside neighbors to fix their stuff.
Even if you can’t make it right at the start you’re welcome to drop in
anytime and hang out with us. You’re also most welcome to bring your own
projects to work on.
Sign up at http://bit.ly/inpersoncoachsignup; and if you know anyone
else who would make a good Coach: bring ‘em along!
Hope to see you Wednesday, -Peter

Hi Sudoers:
See this RFP for City of Oakland program that Sudoroom could be
potentially qualified to apply for:
https://apps.oaklandca.gov/ContractOpportunities/Opportunity?num=389532,
the close date is Jan 16 but you might contact the contract manager to
see if the date is extended.
If nothing else: applying for this is good practice for Sudoers who are
interested in securing grants for sudoroom.
Sincerely, -Peter
sudo friends -
In my recent visits to sudoroom, I've talked about and demonstrated FPGAs
(among other things). I personally consider FPGAs to be an enabling
technology, like microcontrollers but with some key advantages.
They also have a reputation of being hard to learn.
There seems to be at least some interest in turning these chaotic discussions
into activities thoughtfully set up for teaching/learning. Maybe the
word "class" won't apply.
I'll keep this first message short, although I certainly have ideas,
at least about how to get started. I'm a huge believer in learning by doing.
I plan to be at sudoroom tonight (Dec 30), and we can have in-person discussions.
Maybe this thread can capture ideas in a less ephemeral form.
