New subject: 10/4! Hackers and Earthkeepers Unite – Bay Delta Bioregional Unconference
tl;dr: As a hackerspace committed to openness, community tech, and
ecological resilience, join us:
https://events.humanitix.com/fall-25-bioregional-regeneration-unconference?…
Dear Sudo Room Collective,
What would it look like to apply hackerspace principles - open access,
collaborative learning, community ownership, DIY ethics - to healing our
entire bioregion?
The Bay Delta Bioregional Unconference on October 4th at Laney College
operates on the same values that make Sudo Room special:
community-controlled resources, horizontal organizing, and belief that
ordinary people can create the solutions we need when we work together.
Using Open Space Technology (ultimate open-source event format!), 300+
participants will co-create the day's agenda around bioregional resilience,
environmental justice, and community-controlled infrastructure. Perfect
space to explore how community workshops, maker spaces, and DIY approaches
support climate adaptation and community self-determination.
Your experience building alternative institutions, facilitating
collaborative learning, and creating community-controlled resources
provides crucial expertise for bioregional organizing. Plus, many attendees
are working on projects that could benefit from maker space partnerships or
technical skills sharing.
*No One Turned Away for Lack of Funds* - same accessibility principles we
practice at Sudo Room.
*Early registration by Tuesday appreciated* to help with collaborative
planning and resource allocation.
*Friday Virtual Connection* (Oct 3rd):
https://regenerationpollination.earth/event-details-registration/first-frid…
*Register:*
https://events.humanitix.com/fall-25-bioregional-regeneration-unconference?…
*Each one teach one, heal the bioregion together! *
Bring your tech wisdom to the earth’s healing.

hey sudoers!
taking off my sudo hat for a moment, and following up on the thread from
last year about adding our (east bay permaculture guild
<http://tbaypermacultureguild>) unconferences to the sudo room calendar —
we're planning our spring unconference for *saturday, may 9th* and would
love to explore cohosting or partnering with sudo room on it.
what is it?
the bay-delta bioregional regeneration unconference is an annual gathering
bringing together ~200-300 folks working on regenerative projects across
the bay-delta bioregion. it's participant-driven (think: open space
technology), focused on permaculture, mutual aid, community resilience, and
regenerative systems.
our fall'25 event was at laney college and brought together folks from
richmond grows, BACE timebank, transition berkeley, and dozens of other
community orgs. you can see details on our past events here:
https://baydelta.org/events/
what we're thinking
-
*date*: saturday, may 9, 2026
-
*venue*: we're still looking! need space for 100-300 people (ideally
near BART, indoor + outdoor options) (laney, where we did the last two, is
under construction then))
-
*partnership*: we'd love to collab with sudo room — could mean:
-
hosting at or near the omni (if space works)
-
cross-promotion to our networks
-
sudo room gets visibility as a collaborating org
-
potential for sudo room to have a table/presence/workshop track
-
funds from ticket sales could benefit sudo room
-
and/or etc..
other venues we've already reached out to:
-
Berkeley city college
-
omni (waiting to hear back)
-
trellis (but not sure if we want it in sf, else mahubay gardens would be
an option)
-
others i'm forgetting now (might reach out to Oakland Asian Cultural
Center)
*would sudo room be interested in partnering/cohosting?* even if we can't
physically host at the omni, we'd love to collaborate in other ways.
happy to hop on a call with my co-planner or chat more at the next member
meeting (2/13?) if folks are interested!
much love,
ajay

New subject: Invitation: Today (Thu) 3pm Planning Call for Bay Delta Bioregional Unconference (May 9 @ Omni?)
hey sudo room folks,
following up on my earlier email about potentially cohosting the bay-delta
bioregional unconference on may 9th—we're having a community planning
call* today
(thursday, feb 12) at 3:00 pm PST* and would love to have sudo room
representation there!
<https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?pli=1#all/19c5054253efd65a>
*zoom registration: *
https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/YDOZMmohSXqU6YPhm8JwgA
*what we'll discuss:*
-
venue decision (omni commons is one of our top options!)
-
how sudo room could plug in as a collaborator/cosponsor
-
volunteer coordination and day-of logistics
-
ways this could benefit sudo room (visibility, network building,
potential revenue share from tickets)
*quick context:* this is our biannual gathering bringing together 200-300
folks working on permaculture, mutual aid, community resilience, and
regenerative systems across the bay-delta bioregion. past events at laney
brought together richmond grows, BACE timebank, transition berkeley, and
dozens of other community orgs.
<https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?pli=1#all/19911cfbe8afd17d>
even if sudo room can't physically host at the omni (we're exploring
berkeley city college and oakstop too), we'd love to have you involved as a
collaborating organization.
<https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?pli=1#all/19911cfbe8afd17d>
*p.s. also invite you to weality check next week!* it's a casual
mixed-theme social/networking/deep-conversation gathering we do
regularly—next one's coming up soon. it's basically a vibe where
regenerative community folks, technologists, systems thinkers, and
change-makers hang out and build relationships. check
linktr.ee/eastbaypermacultureguild for dates/details!
<https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?pli=1#all/19abc488a42c5299>
no pressure if tomorrow doesn't work—happy to catch folks at the next
member meeting or async. but would love to have your input as we finalize
venue and partnership decisions in the near future!
much love,
ajay

Hey sudo room!
Quick update bumping this thread — we ended up locking in *Oakstop in
Oakland* for *Saturday, May 9*, so the Omni didn't work out
timing/cost-wise, but grateful for the support and interest earlier this
year.
The event is *10 days away* and we'd still love Sudo Room's involvement in
whatever form makes sense:
-
*Add it to the Sudo Room / Omni calendar*
-
*Sudo room *to sign on as a collaborating org and we'd list it on the
reg page!
-
*Cross-post to the list* (done, with this email 😄)
-
*Come propose a session* — open-source, tech for community resilience,
decentralized tools, mutual aid infrastructure — all deeply welcome threads
-
*Put flyers down, posters up, etc!*
🗓 *Sat May 9 | Oakstop, Oakland*
🎟 *Register (sliding scale, work-trade available):*

No one turned away for lack of funds — just reach out.
See you out there,
