Hi Johnny,
Is it true that Lesley's has a temporary restraining order against you?
That seems to rise above mere "gossip and accusations", and seems like it
would be substantial enough to trigger at least a temporary ban.
Also, it's the nature of interpersonal conflicts that there may not be any
more than "accusations" available to make a decision on. So if someone
states that they feel unsafe around another person, it may be justified to
remove that other person from the space at least temporarily, until a
better informed decision can be reached.

abusing that vague apparatus of the super-system to ban people on mere
claims is totally fascist and supremacist behavior.
defending it is also fascist.
calling out for the record that Marc, Matt, Cere, Sigma, Jeremy are
fascists for consent to abuse system and unjustly override process without
sudo quorum; ya'll better not step on any cracks!

apparently at the meeting last week, Johnny was banned for Safe-Space
reasons, but nobody informed him about this.
Earlier tonight, he asked if I would be at sudoroom tonight and i said
yes, and so he brought his project to work on, but he was stopped at the
door by someone who knew about the ban. He asked for me and I spent the
next hour trying to sort through the mediation process and the
complexities of this particular situation.
In the future, when people are banned at a meeting it's important that
someone makes an effort to contact someone who is being banned to let them
know, and to inform them of how to participate in the mediation process.
To do otherwise discredits our important conflict resolution process and
disregards the basic rights of the accused. In this case Johnny can be
easily reached by email, and is included in this message.
Johnny expressed a desire to participate in mediation as soon as possible,
since he is banned from the space until its conclusion. He is also
dealing with eviction from his home right now so this is frustrating for
him, especially since he only found out about it after arriving at Omni to
work on a project.
is anyone stepping up to be a conflict steward and/or neutral mediator?
thanks

I'm looking for someone with experience setting up, migrating and keeping
Debian-based servers running. Mainly a basic LAMP stack with a mediawiki
instance with lots of users and content.
Skills: Keeping productions servers secured and running. Ability to write
scripts that analyze and migrate SQL databases. Should have basic knowledge
of reverse proxies, node.js processes, process monitoring, server
monitoring and postfix.
This would be a part time contract gig.
Email me for more info if you're interested.

Hey Folks,
Is there anyone that has expertise in this area? I would like to
potentially integrate this kind of thing into an exhibit piece but would
like to save myself some headache if I can consult with someone who has
already built circuits for this, etc.
Thanks,

I know a cool young lady who happens to have an awesome kid! She completed
one of those developer bootcamps and is looking for a job.
I feel guilty because I know nothing about the web development industry
for boot camp graduates- I know people will have many good and bad things
to say about boot camps or the development industry!
Anyway, I met a lot of nice people who were doing javascript workshops .Are
these still going on? I keep sending her to these nice but ultimately not
very helpful for getting a job or becoming great at programming all women
events that are sponsored by tech companies. ( These events are cool once
in a while and are a great way for men to show support, but going only to
all women events could handicap her IMHO. For beginners they are nice and
augment networking but should not replace it - She needs more than
inspirational talks, she needs mentorship and technical schools and
connections)
Are there other boot camp graduates who are interested in hanging out ?
I've also been guiding her to contribute to open source. I think there was
a javascript event, right ?

Hi all,
We'll have some folks from German/French public TV Channel ARTE-TV (www.arte
-tv.de) in CCL this weekend, shooting some material for a documentary on
vegan foods and sustainability.
Please be considerate and try to keep noise down while they're filming. But
also feel free to speak up and let us know if their presence is getting in
the way of you getting your own work done!
Also, if you could help out keeping some of the mess under control in the
lab, that would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks!

Heya folks,
I have just prototyped a new art piece that I am really excited to share.
But I am looking for a small outdoor kitty pool or bath to use. I don't
suppose anyone has one of those lying around, do they?
Literally, something like this would be ideal.
https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Inflatable-Snapset-Pool-5X10/dp/B000OV0X34?ie=…
I know I could always buy one, but I would like to get it used if possible
and contribute to killing our environment more slowly.... Shorter height
is better than tall for this case.

Hi,
is anyone trracking Facebook and their OpenCellular project ?
To me this looks like re-implementation OpenBTS but as software defined radio.
If you missed announcement from Facebook:
https://code.facebook.com/posts/1754757044806180/introducing-opencellular-a…
If Facebook releases this platform as open hardware this could be
interesting platform for open mesh networks...
Facebook approach is to use software defined radio and so far they got
2G working but they plan to have everything from 2G to LTE and Wifi
done in SDR.
Looks like a really interesting project... if anyone has some info
please share because their press release is quite sparse with any
concrete info...
Cheers.
Hi All, The Health and Life Extension Huvement has begun. A huvement, by the way, is a movement that affects an aspect of all humanity (a typical movement affects one aspect of a given society). One of our main goals is to see to it that poor people in industrialized countries, and citizens of poor countries themselves are included at the same time as, and in total equality to, the more fortunate.
A link is below to the website that's the home of the huvement: Include-Everyone.org
We are having a session on advancing the huvement at the Berkeley main library meeting room this Sunday, July 10, from 2-4pm. Address: 2090 Kittredge (at Shattuck), three blocks from the Berkeley downtown Bart. Third floor meeting room. Hope you can make it. Feel free to bring along anyone who might be interested. Please look over the website before attending if possible, and bring a laptop or tablet if you can.

hi,
Sihasin, a Navajo punk band, is playing @Omni on wed 7-13 & i was hoping to
turn it in to a sudoroom/stop driving fundraiser.
apologies for the late notice, i've been real busy.
in the alternative, it could go on as planned as a general omni fundraiser.
i will be at the mtg 2nite to disgust it
two large hand-painted signs were moved from the main table to the table
next to the embroidery machine.
"don't fuck with omni women" and "omni is queer as hell"
i'm just trying to clean up.

Hi! I've been a CS nerd/web dev for many years, but I'd also say I'm "new to the game". This is "a whole different ballgame" to what I'm used to from past experience. I have spent the last year of my life learning JavaScript. Several weeks ago, I graduated from Telegraph Academy, Hack Reactor Core's East Bay school (anyone can attend who passes the rigorous selection process, but it's targeted at underrepresented minorities in the software engineering industry- women and people of color). During the course of my search for a full time job, I'm going to a ton of similar events and working on various projects. Always happy to connect!
Regarding open source projects, that is great advice. My favorite open source project right now is SudoMesh! We are working on a UI right now, with all kinds of things to do. This could be a cool project for your pal to check out.
best,
Elizabeth

for those with geek inclinations:
in our constant exploration of decentralized paths out of the current corporate
dominated and co-opted bullshit web that is barely useable anymore, we've been
experimenting with Zeronet, a peer-to-peer web that uses bittorrent to host
distributed websites that can't be taken down. Currently, there is an AMF site
hosted on Zeronet that can be accessed via proxy here:
http://76.74.178.163:43110/mutantfest.bit
otherwise, you can run Zeronet on your own PC, it's really cool:

Hey all,
I've been working on https://omnicommons.org/blog as a replacement to
omnicommons.org and seeing how far we can go to simplify our lives in that
regard. I'm not married to any of the content, and most of the style. This
theme is selected because it's a really simple mobile-oriented
genesis-based (therefore super-fast-loading) child theme. I'd be down to
style it out a lot or just a little to move us forward.
Events Manager and the ESS feed are not working, so that's got to end. This
is the most promising event plugin I've found so far:
http://www.e-dynamics.be/wordpress/?cat=33
I love it! However, the "frontend submit" form plugin (an extension to the
basic eme plugin) leaves something to be desired. See here how we can
customize it a bit:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/events-made-easy-frontend-submit/faq/
Attached is a form template I started working on, but that doesn't quite
implement the drop-down menu for locations properly (locations do not get
successfully saved).
If anyone has bandwidth, I could use a hand fixing up a better custom form
that especially can:
- Restrict locations to those pre-defined in wordpress and made
available as a drop-down menu on the front end.
- Allow for submitting recurring event requests (only single works right
now as far as I can tell, but the admin event add forms allow for
recurrence)
- Adds the additional fields necessary to successfully replace our
current booking form.
LMK if anyone wants to meet up to hack on this.
I have been informed that DJ Neon Leon perpetrated some unacceptably
creepy behavior the other night, and I ask that he not come to the space
until or unless this is addressed.
please email me directly if you want to discuss this, i'm not sure what to
do next.
