nice engineering student from Clemson looking for affordable hacker houses
in east bay or sf
Could anyone email me so I could pass his email to you?
the prices are quite high in Berkeley for students ($700 a month) -> does
anyone have suggestions for price friendly places in the East Bay like East
Oakland that are safe and full of cool hackers?

Ok, all should be well now. If you have any trouble please email
sudo-sys(a)lists.sudoroom.org. Thanks!
Hey all,
You are receiving this message on the sudo-discuss mailing list or because
you are listed as a member of the sudo room!
Tonight at our weekly meeting, we discussed and consented on a
clarification of our delegates to the Omni Commons for Sudo Room:
In an effort of improving communication between sudo room members and the
rest of the Omni Commons community (as well as vice-versa), please see that
the following list of folks are currently empowered to act as delegates of
the sudo room to the Omni Commons:
- Brendan Reddy-Best b.d.reddybest(a)gmail.com
- Julio Rios julio.rios(a)gmail.com
- Matt Senate mattsenate(a)gmail.com
- Jenny Ryan tunabananas(a)gmail.com
- Yardena Cohen yardenack(a)gmail.com
If you would like to participate as a delegate for the sudo room to omni
commons, simply:
1. be a sudo room member
2. ask at a sudo room meeting, where a quorum of sudo room members
consents to this proposal
3. be added to the sudo room's omni delegates email list:

Anyone know these folks? They are seriously kicking CCL's butt as most
popular Kickstarter to come out of Oakland right now...
Looks like it's a tiny Linux board, about half the size of a Raspberry Pi,
and much cheaper. Very slick.
They've raised $1.2M in a week so far...

Hi all,
Bit torrent released a p2p messenger today! I know you're the type of crowd
who likes security, so I figured it'd be worth sharing.

I usually do a sketch a day (one sketch a day)
but i always want to play and experiment with code... i never seem to get
around to doing one new code or hack a day which would actually be really
fun!
biggest barrier: distractions, surfing the web, and then:
I think the stuff that stands in the way is: just thinking about it,
setting up my IDE, fear of imperfection, and it takes like about 5-10
minutes of coding to "get into the flow" and start pushing your limits
as a result, i don't code as much as I could even though I really like it.
i really would like to hod more casual hacks every day. have you thought
about this? I'm thinking of starting them on paper the way I do my
drawings. in pseudocode
I remember this was a big problem i had with making comics and I was never
profile
wish i could be more like jake and just be compulsive about it! dang social
media and ADHD! ;)

Greetings,
It's that time of the year here at Boca Bearings -- *our annual and popular
Innovation Contest 2015.*
The Boca Bearings Company holds this contest which is open for people
worldwide who have different backgrounds and a keen interest in
mechanically-related projects. All of the projects submitted in
our contest require the use of bearings in their installation.
We had a tremendous response to our contest in 2014, everything from
stroboscopic zoetropes to human powered helicopters and electric go-kart
and micro-kart were submitted -- see the winners here:
http://www.bocabearings.com/innovation-contest/winner-videos.aspx
The winner earned $5000. The prize will be the same this year.
If you participated in 2014 you are welcome to enter the same project you
had or if you have a new project in the works, you can present the new
project.
If you're interested in participating please let me know.

Someone wants to film Sudoroom for a VICE documentary. What should we tell them?
P.S. this isn't revealing any new information. They already sent the
same thing to Noisebridge-discuss.

To: info(a)sudoroom.org
Hi,
My name is Paula Neudorf and I'm a producer at VICE. I'm working on an
eight-part documentary series about computer security and hacking that
will air on TV in the U.S. and Canada, and internationally online.
I was referred your way by a contact at Noisebridge, because we'll be
filming in the Bay Area the week of May 18 and are looking to talk to
hackers doing interesting things.
I'd love to talk more about the series and what we're after. Please
let me know! Since I'm working on deadline, it would be great to hear
from someone at your earliest convenience.
Thanks,
Paula

Hey Alex and I were thinking about going to makerfaire and wondering if
there were free-ish tickets available from anywhere? We were thinking about
going on Saturday? Anyone wanna hook us up?
Hey all!
Sending a helpful reminder to see you tomorrow (weds) at 7pm at sudo room
for our weekly meeting. There are lots of items big and small that we need
to mind, hope to see you there.
// Matt
Friends,
We have a ton of low-skill-level work to do tomorrow, Wednesday, starting
at 9am:
* Clear area in front of ballroom south wall
* Procure tarps
* Separate dump piles in ballroom
* Get rid of junky chairs, and those that wont pass fire
* Tarp off work area
* Remove veneer from south wall
* Get drywall dropped
* Remove latching hardware on ballroom doors
We're beginning to clear the south wall this afternoon. Come on by!
Please reply to this thread, contact me directly, or just come by tomorrow
and help out! Tell your friends. Tell your enemies. Let's build this
beautiful space together. :)

Hi my friend Johnny is a filmmaker specializing in global issues
Notably the Middle East. He's visiting SF with his girl .
I'm sending him to the Omni but if you know of any cool local filmmakers that could connect with him great things will happen !

Hi,
A lot of us at SudoRoom are programmers. We encounter algorithms only
during coding interviews or during high level talks about impossibly cool
and complex stuff.
I learned how to code in a non traditional way, but I'm finding algorithms
more and more fun outside of the context of a coding interview!
I want to live with algorithms no matter what. They are actually really
cool, but they just don't seem to be that much fun and are presented as
objects of terror in everyday life.
As part of the regular Thursday and Tuesday cartoonist conspiracy session I
am going to add:
*Algorithm Romance Novel Cartoon night.*
We will hack and code hot algorithms
and maybe even date them!

Hey sudoers and noisebridgers,
Wondering if anyone has 2 channel AMP I can borrow for MakerFaire these
weekend? I don't need the speakers, so not a guitar amp, but just the
amplifier itself. Alternately, if there is no just-an-amplifier available,
a guitar amp would do in a pinch.
If anyone has one available they would be willing to lend me, pls email me
privately.
Thanks,
Cere

re-keying for physical (cylinder) keys is immanent. no change to existing
access control system, see for updates on that at a later time/date.

Subject: [omni-discuss] Announcement: Re-Keying is Coming!
To: "discuss(a)lists.omnicommons.org" <discuss(a)lists.omnicommons.org>
At our last delegates meeting we agreed that, after almost a year, it's
time to re-key the locks and re-communicate our community agreements around
access to and use of the space.
(Obviously, a larger access system will eventually be implemented down the
road.)
If you are a member of a member collective you should discuss how to go
about receiving a new key with your collective.
If you are not a member of a member collective, there will be a now be a
process for requesting a key. We will be sure to communicate that process
prior to changing the locks.
Re-Keying will happen no sooner than (and more likely, sometime after) our
next delegate's meeting in two weeks.
If you have any thoughts regarding information you think should be included
in the communications we're developing around space use and access, please
feel free to contact me!
Please distribute this message to your respective collectives!

For people with cool projects they'd like to show off at the Cre8 Summit in Shenzhen China, there is a possibility for a free, all-expenses paid trip. Check out the info, below, and if you are interested, please contact me off-list, and I'll connect you to the organizer of Cre8 Summit.
Best,
Mitch.
The event will have ~25 makers and hackers
from China, Japan, and US presenting their projects in a publicexpo, which is expected to have ~15,000 attendees. The first day willbe keynote speeches followed by a public display of all the projectsthe attending teams are working on. These will be things involvingdrones, VR, EEG systems, etc. The second day has talks focused oneducation, creativity, and the role China will play in the future ofinnovation, followed by a networking event for attending teams, manufacturers, and whoever else wants to participate (this part won'tbe open to general public). The last two days feature tours ofShenzhen companies for the visiting teams.
Our informational website is here, which has our list of speakers:
http://www.cre8summit.io/
We have a strong set of teams based around virtual reality, EEG systems and artistry/making. We currently have a small contingent for robotics and internet of things, and we're looking to fill a couple last spots there.
We're able to provide full accommodations and plane tickets for teams with very cool (accessible + interesting) demos in these areas, and we're open to having a team from another area not mentioned above.
:D
We have a ton of construction projects planned over the next two weeks and
have requested a moratorium on scheduling events in the ballroom during
that time.
Today's work day has been cancelled due to an event that was scheduled.
Please check in w/the Commons Working Group if you have questions!
