We have a lot of computers and other equipment at Sudo Room in various states of functionality. You may also have computers and other kinds of equipment in various states of functionality! During this session we will come together to test/repair computers and learn more about fixing computers. BONUS: Have you always been curious about Linux but not sure where to start? If you are interested in installing Linux on your Windows computer (it is not necessary to delete Windows to install Linux), we will also be helping participants install Linux. I don't eat meat, that doesn't make meat dirt to me. No one will be forced to eat insects by any force other than meat getting expensive. Your categories beg the question, are insects dirt? I say dirt is dirt, food is food, paper is paper, and poop is poop. If you're living in the right area you will eat people, fish, insects, or diet coke. If insects produce nutritious food at a decent price, why not? Seriously! The types of insects being considered for food (caterpillars and mealworms specifically) do not eat sewage, btw. If you know of any insects that somehow eat sewage and become edible food, let me know because I've never heard of that. I've heard of plants using processed cow dung as fertilizer though, and I'm ok with eating it, are you? Someone brought up electronic kits as a funding idea?

I can't remember exactly from last week, but maybe you brought this up, Marc? I think this is a really great idea, which could bring in revenue (from the kits), more revenue (from workshops focusing on building the kits, and not necessarily for adults [sudo-kids?]), and members (from people who enjoy the workshops thoroughly). Though it is currently being done: If I remember correctly, I think people in the community - Mitch Altman? - do workshops like this. And though an internet "competitor" exists - Maker Shed's kits (http://www.makershed.com/) - and I haven't yet done a significant amount of research about the kind of kits that they offer and so forth, I think it'd be really neat to purchase the parts, design really fun, age-appropriate packaging, sell the kits at some kind of minimal markup online, then above and beyond that have donation-suggested workshops where we guide people through the process of assembling whatever the kit is. Even if other hackerspaces / non-hackerspace entities / for-profit corporations are doing a similar concept, we'll have people interested who are geographically proximate to Sudoroom. Also, we have ideas: the lock picking class brought in great PR (in my opinion), and I'm guessing that the listserv would have a bunch of great ideas that are quirky, exciting, feasible, etc. I've always wanted to build a bunch of modular synthesizer modules, but that's kind of a fringe / eccentric interest. I propose the following: 1. Host circuit fabbing workshops on a donation basis. This is useful for both inexperienced Sudoers (ahem) as well as the community at large. Call it a workshop/training session. See step 2. 2. Enlist newly trained Sudoers and supportive community members in an afternoon of mass assembly. Provide beer. 3. Sell kits to those who weren't interested in building them. 4. Make bacon.

I went to sudoroom for the first time yesterday!!!

It's amazing! It's beautiful! I want to be a member and pay money but I don't want to come to a lot of meetings, is that ok? Would anybody be interested, do you think, in co-op mat pilates classes in the mornings? I really love pilates, but it's really expensive. You don't need machines at all to do it, all you need is a big carpeted floor. I think if a person has taken like 3 classes he or she is qualified to lead a class. I'd like to take turns leading. A potential downside I envision has to do with insurance. Do you think your insurance would prohibit sports, even really low key sports like mat exercises?

i'm not going to maker faire this year (too bad) i'm starting a thread for people who like to make things. i'd like for this to result in something creative. there were some nice projects last weekend. i made a lot of progress this week learning stuff. == i'm not so interested in being sent lots of links to instructables / youtube videos of burrito delivery drones / stuff that doesn't result in people doing creative things in the space / rambling political rants but you know, it's a "free country" and we are all anarchists so you can write what you want.

Activism in Oakland

dear friends, tonight we had many fruitful dicsussions at sudo. it led to the connection of some obvious dots: the prohibition of practices that threaten biodiversity and our well being on this planet and the legalization of a new economy for a sustainable society in balance with the planet. the society we are seeing out there is the dying caterpiller, lets not be afraid, after the transition we will all be happier, live a more sustainable lifestyle in community instead of in solitude, instead of toxic foods and scarcity we will have non toxic foods in abundance. We will become a butterfly. We will wake up to see that all this we went through was a horrible dream. We will live on a compassionate planet. we will dicsover who we really are. we are not slaves or slave masters. we are not robots, we are not animals. we are cosmic spirits, travelling through space and time since millenia of years. we are the planet. we are sick, but we are healing. we can find peace of mind, and we can create peace on earth. world peace is near if we open up to it. it starts within every one of us. it starts in the supermarket, it starts on our plates. it starts by smiling to a stranger on the street and saying hi instead of just playing the same old game of separation. we vote with our dollar every day. we are the consumers that the corporations ship materials to from all over the world. Here were some ideas as action items: - promote May 25th as Global and Local World Peace March (Stop Monsanto and legalize Hemp) (in the evening we will screen the film who bombed judy barry, goes along well) - connect the city hackers (us) with the countryside food hackers (organic farmers) (as an alternative to corporate food) - establiosh symbiosis to food hackers, invite them to talk, get food donated, maybe have small farmers market, maybe they need our skills. -organize community potlucks on a regular basis, find allies, loal organizations, gather the tribes, grow a movement of sharing hacker grown, non corporate and non toxic food. I conneted two pitures to one collage. Please share if it resonates with you. I posted it on a couple of FB pages and then got notified that I cant post it anymore on pages. Please share your Ideas, thoughts, feedback. Any Ideas which organizations to contact? Any Ideas on how to pull this off? Praying for peace, love and abundance to come, as this is exactly what mother earth provides us with. lets stop artificial scarcity. Lets stop the killing and distruction. Lets have a peaceful revolution, share food, music, art, culture, creativity, come together and heal as a society , on a personal level, and as the planet.
