Hello Jake, and all,
I don't know if my payment stopped working yet, but it should because I
need to update the expiration date (3/21) on my card. I can log into
sudohumans but don't see any means in my profile where my payment info can
be found and updated. Please advise!
thanks
Hilary

Hi Ed,
My sudo humans payment stopped working around the same exact time, but i'm
pretty sure it's because my card went missing and I got a new one at that
time,
but it could be a coincidence and that sudo humans and/or stripe has had
problems that we didn't realize.
Does anyone know if we get emails from stripe about cards being rejected /
automatic payments failing? Who is maintaining sudo humans?
Ed, if you're unable to login, is it possible that there's a capitalization
issue with your login name? The system is case-dependant.
I was able to log in recently so I think the system is at least partially
working. If you are still unable to get in, I am willing to work on it with
you over the phone, you have my number and we're both on Signal.
I'm also trying to find other people who are more qualified to help with
this.
sudo-humans is important! it's how we get our money so sudoroom and
omni-commons can continue to exist.

Did something happen to the omni door computer? I can't reach it over
the network, even from within the building. It appears to be working,
letting people in. I tried looking at the box, but couldn't make sense
of the mess of cables. Maybe an ethernet got disconnected somewhere?
The rest of the network is fine. Other devices on that subnet and that
interface are reachable, but:
$ ip neigh | grep 100.64.64.11
100.64.64.11 dev enp3s2 FAILED
I am adding some Omni Commons groups to this.
Hopefully we can get more folks involved with Commons Working Group as
potential for physical opening (?) gets closer.
Or at least host virtual events for more financial support ?
Get new voices and perspectives in the mix.
I'll start attending soon especially in connection to North Oakland Mutual
Aid
Free Store aspects.

Forwarding this omni proposal with great enthusiasm!
FYI I'm still acting as sudoroom delegate at omni meetings, but
abstaining from all decisions since we haven't met in ages. Anybody
wanna organize a sudo meeting?

To: <consensus(a)lists.omnicommons.org>
Hey all!
I have rewritten the Free Store proposal to reflect the new idea to
have Omni Commons' Commons Working Group itself host the Free Store,
as an Omni-led project that acts in intentional partnership with other
collectives to facilitate mutual aid.
I'm really excited about this because I believe it could provide a
clear channel to the public of where and how to direct volunteer
energy toward the Omni. I think it could be a great step toward
enhancing participation within the working groups.
Let me know what you think! There's always room to revise.
Best,
Vicky

Hello Omni folks,
How are ya’ll doing? We hope everyone is doing ok.
It’s been a while since we’ve put out an Omni newsletter, almost a year has
gone by since our last one! A lot has happened between then and now, so it
would be nice to catch up. We’re thinking of putting out the next
newsletter by the end of March, so we want to invite Omni collectives and
Omni folks to share updates, thoughts, art, feelings, ideas with us, so we
can include them in the Omni Commoner.
There is a lot to talk about. We are still in the grips of a deadly
pandemic which has undeniably exacerbated the ills of capitalism and its
deadly effects on our community. But Omni folks and Omni Collectives have
organized and actively continued to support the community during this
crisis. We are stewarding a town fridge, the North Oakland Mutual Aid
Project is going strong, Acta Non Verba has adopted Phat Beets’ CSA, and
the rest of Omni collectives continue to do empowering work out in the
community. The working groups are meeting, some regularly and other
sometime, the finance/fundraising working group though has been at the
forefront doing the important work of keeping the Omni alive, critical
work, which we are all grateful for! There is much more going on for sure,
this is not even mentioning the different individual projects Omni folks
are working on!
It has been a rough year, but with the spirit of collectivity, the Omni
continues to be a hub for community collective action during this pandemic.
It is this we would like to share in this newsletter =].
So if you want to share anything with the Omni community please do! Art,
thoughts, visions, desires, anything!
We are asking from each collective to submit 1-4 paragraphs providing an
update of the work ya’ll have been doing. Below are some suggestions of
questions or topics you can touch on:
-
Updates from your collective. New visions and goals.
-
How your collective has been responding to the covid-19 pandemic.
-
What kind of world do ya’ll imagine post covid-19?
-
Anything you want to share….poetry, paintings, photographs, recipes,
anything.
-
Upcoming Events
Please send your content to the communications working group email at

Like all the other working groups at the Omni, the communications working
group needs more participation. If you are interested in joining please
sign up to the communication working group email list at

Thank you.

Hi,
My name is Jathan Gurr and I'm a disabled musician who doesn’t have enough fine motor control of my hands to play traditional musical instruments. I’m looking to hire someone to build for me a custom microphone with a few midi controls built onto it, that’s going to be part of an assistive electronic instrument I'm making to allow me to play instrumental music despite my disabilities.
All the parts of this microphone are easily assembled with the midi controls I’m envisioning, but I don’t have the technical skills to put them all together.
While I am not rich, I’m very much willing to pay for this project, and I’m wondering if you know anyone who has experience putting together custom electronics and possibly being able to do some 3-D printing. If so please have them contact me at jathangurr(a)yahoo.con
Many Thanks,
Jathan
For legal reasons, every omni collective needs to have 1 member formally
represented on the Omni Commons executive board. Right now Sudo Room is
represented by Jenny Ryan, who's happy to continue or be replaced.
Would anybody like to volunteer to be on the Omni Commons board
representing Sudoroom? I am happy to keep acting as delegate for now, but
do not want to be listed on paper as a board member.
We are hoping to have a formal meeting to update Omni's bylaws this
Thursday. All are welcome, Thursday March 4th 7-9pm

Hi Sudo and CCL,
I'll be doing a remote-learning livestream from CCL on Sunday March 7 (link
<https://www.meetup.com/Counter-Culture-Labs/events/276470601/>), and I'd
like to be plugged into a wired ethernet connection for it. Does anyone
know if there is an accessible ethernet port somewhere in Sudo / CCL?
Thanks!
Tim

Hi sudo,
I've been working on this pinball machine project over the last years and
I'm looking for a new home for it because I'm leaving the bay area and
can't take it with me:
https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/105796
I'd donate it to the sudo-room for free (if someone picks it up from my
place in Berkeley).
It's fully working. Everything on it is software controlled, so it's very
hackable!
I thought it would be a nice addition to the sudo room for people to have
some fun and learn about linux / python / embedded in the process.
If sudo decides to sell it to help with the rent, that's fine with me too.
So please let me know if there is interest or -- if it's not a good fit for
sudo -- maybe you know someone who might be interested.
Cheers,
Michael
I know a lot of people are moving out of the Bay Area, and my company is
currently looking for a laser scanner like this. Does anyone have any
sources?
And I miss all of you guys, and hope to be back at sudo soon.
Les
