the weakest link in our sound system right now is our microphones
Seb - who's collective own's our sound system - can get 50% off sennheiser
mics (very good mics)
biohack the planet is willing to buy omni 5 handheld mics
<https://en-us.sennheiser.com/live-performance-microphone-vocal-stage-e-835>

if we can get more money we could also get wireless lapels (wearable) -
often requested, another wireless handheld & maybe even a drum kit set.
wireless lapels (wearable) for as low as $150 each
still researching models for wireless handhelds & drum kit set.

We knew that one day the Domain Awareness Center would come back.
On Thursday, BART police will propose a system-wide security dragnet for
the Bay Area's transit system, hoping to get the board to greenlight it
before the passage of a surveillance transparency ordinance.
BART police are asking the board to approve the project in concept and
authorize trials at Lake Merritt and Civic Center BART stations.
*No privacy policy. No civil rights impact assessment. No data storage and
access rules.*
*No go. *
We need a strong public showing on Thursday morning to tell BART that* this
will not stand. *
The Bay Area has rejected wall to wall surveillance every time it has
reared its head.
BART is planning to use the same platform that was proposed as the "brains"
of the Domain Awareness Center (PSIM). The plan calls for 2000 CCTV
cameras to be converted to IP-based for geospatial tagging and advanced
real-time video analytics, likely facial recognition technologies already
proven to be inaccurate and biased.

BART has sat on its hands and delayed the adoption of a surveillance
technology ordinance approved by its tech commiitee in* 2016. *
Now BART Police are attempting to *rush through* an aggressive new
surveillance network with only 72 hours notice.
There are plenty of common sense things BART could do with $15-25 million
dollars to improve security on the transit system without treating every
passenger like a criminal suspect.
The last thing Nia Wilson would want is her death used to increase the
high-tech harassment of Black and Brown people.

Hello,
Has anyone lost any glasses in sudoroom?
Aaaaand has anyone found some ID cards, clipper card, etc. with my name and
picture on them? Because I'm pretty sure I lost them somewhere at or around
the omni, four cards total :/
Thanks :)
Lesley
Hi all,
I'm bringing over a bunch of electronics components from BioCurious this
afternoon. I have three parts drawer racks, plus several more bins with
plastic baggies of parts. Mostly discrete components, but there are some
chips and a few short tapes of surface mount components.
These all look to be very new, well organized and labeled, so I think they
will come in very handy for the electronics hackers at Sudo.
Patrik
Anyone interested in this stuff?

I wanted to print something tonight and went to the web interface for the laser
printer:
http://192.168.42.2:8888/
(it only works if you're in the Omni)
and when I tried to print it didn't work. Why? Because someone stole the
ethernet cable that had been connecting the printer to the network! Why would
you do that? don't do that.
It took me a long time but i found a replacement cable of the right length, and
i put it back up there, and then i was able to print.
if you want to print, go to the above address. If you just want to check in on
the printer (and make sure its ethernet cable isn't unplugged) you can go to:
http://100.64.64.88/
thank you
-jake
P.S. Tom Levine made the excellent web interface above, unfortunately it
doesn't know what to do if the printer isn't online.
Hi CCL & Sudo Folx,
We have a really exciting workshop coming up this Saturday 2:00-5:00pm at CCL. Hoping to see you there! Details below, please RSVP on Meetup.

**Please check back on Meetup event page https://www.meetup.com/Counter-Culture-Labs/events/fspbbnyxkblc/ <https://www.meetup.com/Counter-Culture-Labs/events/fspbbnyxkblc/> for any updates prior to the scheduled workshop**
We are welcoming special guests, bolwerK <http://www.ooooo.be/>, Brussels-based artists who just performed at Yerba Buena Center of the Arts and will be giving their Open Lab workshop at Counter Culture Labs to show you how piezoelectric crystals [[[crystals that make electricity!]]] are made in CRYSTELLING <http://ooooo.be/crystelling/>
<http://ooooo.be/crystelling/>"During open lab session, we grow piezo-electric crystals, and experiment with their physical, acoustic, electric and electromagnetic properties transmitting and receiving signals from the body to the mind & intra-acting frequencies." ~bolwerK
The first half of the workshop, bolwerK will walk you through making & experimenting with the crystals. And the second half of the workshop will be art & science explorations led by CCL hosts including using Daphnia magnus, a small water organism to test piezo electric principles in biology. We're hoping to amplify their movements and explore other electrifying bio topics
Workshop suggested fee: $10 to cover materials & prep; NOTAFLOF (No One is Turned Away for Lack of Funds) Classes are open to all CCL members and the general public. Ages 18+ or with a parent/guardian
Important note: We have invited a Meetup photographer to take photos at Counter Culture Labs during the workshop. Release forms will be required for those who are willing to be photographed. Anyone who does not want to be photographed may opt out, and must state their wishes to the organizers at the time of the event. Please let us know if you have any questions. See you there!

are there any more working 8-foot-long fluorescent lightbulbs in omni? one of
the ones in the northeast corner of sudoroom has stopped working (the west one)
and the whole fixture is dark now.
of course we should migrate to another type of light in the future, but i think
we should use up all the fluorescent lights before we do that.
Hi ya'll I'll be in town from Wed Jul 26 - Jul 29 and will be bringing my sequencer, in case anyone wants to jam or hack :-D
