tonight at Hardware Hacking Tuesday, a friend of mine showed up and set his bag
down on the floor before greeting others who were here.
His bag touched some of the property of someone who had quite a lot of stuff,
and that person berated my friend for touching his property without permission
and made what I thought was quite a big deal out of it.
my friend was very apologetic (I would not have been) but this did little to
calm the person down, who seemed deeply offended and continued to try to make
my friend feel bad for touching another person's property without permission.
i stepped in and told the person that I thought they had quite a lot of stuff,
which was spilling into walkways and very uncontained, and I asked them to
please move some of it out of the way. They responded that they were just
going to leave because I had made them feel "unwelcome". They then packed up
their stuff and left.
the item in question, that was "touched" by my friends' bag, was a sleeping
bag.

Hello Sudoroom folks,
I hope you don't mind me sending this email to the list, but I hope some of
you could help these students.
Please, when you get a chance, see the details+images on this page I put
together.
https://www.youcaring.com/help-escuela-chajsaquil-recover-from-flood
The short version is that, on October 5th, a tropical storm flooded the
Escuela Mixta Official Barrio Chajsaquil and their already old furniture
got ruined even more. How I learned about this is because I joined their
Facebook group after meeting its principal and knowing the building itself
when I was traveling in Guatemala in Dec. 2016.
This time I was wondering if you know of someone/organization/company that
could help the school economically to bring these students new desks, and
other needed school furniture. The list its in the fundraising page linked
above. If so, please share the link and this email if you want.
In regards of donors wanting a tax exempt form, I am in the process of
getting approved by OmniCommons. So they can be the financial sponsor; so
Omni be the one sending the money to the school. We are open to the
person/organization/company also being the direct donors to the school
itself.
The school location:
Escuela Official Barrio Chajsaquil
San Pedro Carcha, Alta Verapaz
Guatemala
Thank you, and thank you for all you do to make this world a better place.
Sincerely,
Daniel Arauz

USPS sent me the renewal notice for our PO box at the Shattuck post
office, across the street.
Can we safely let the box --- and the $200 bill --- go? Or might Omni
have some use for it?
I have a key. I believe Matt still has the other.
Sudo's current balance is now* $3,567.91, *which includes the $4000+ of
Bitcoins we cashed out last month.
Income over the past 30 days was *$1,367.59* - which includes a one-time
$150 gift to cover the costs of the U-Haul trip to pick up the new cabinets.
This means we are effectively *losing around $80**0/month, and will be back
to broke by February*. Please check that your payments via
sudoroom.org/humans are processing!
It may be prudent to begin planning an early 2018 crowdfunding campaign,
but in the interim, please set up payments / check on your payments asap.
Cash payments can be given directly to either myself or Charley.

i have installed the bandsaw tires and the saw is ready to be used, but it
needs the plate. it should be 1.5" square, 0.125" thick, made of aluminum or
steel.
it needs a slot cut into it for the blade, but this can be done (carefully)
using the running blade to create its own clearance in the piece.
do NOT use the bandsaw to cut anything until this square throat plate is made.

OK, hope you are all doing fine! Saw the mesh workshop this weekend.
Question : I know someone living on Puerto Rico and nobody has heard from
her since September 18th!
I know the whole island is cut off--in which scenarios could you Puerto
Rico mesh your way back to civilization? I'm totally floored, are they
going to be cut off for long?
Will they be able to fly balloons or wacky ships out there? Drop an
emergency underwater cable to the nearest internet island? How does this
work?

I got new "bandsaw tires" and installed them in the sudoroom bandsaw, and
installed them, but i haven't tested it.
someone who feels confident should go ahead and test it. i set the blade
tension as a guess so i don't know if it's right.
also we still need a 1.5" square plate (0.125" thick) for the hole in the deck
where the blade goes through.

Does anyone happen to have a 208V transformer sitting around, or know where
to best get one?
We have a new (old) centrifuge that requires 14A @ 208V. We currently have
it plugged in to our spare 230-240V outlet. Most equipment can handle +/-
10% of rated voltage, but that is likely decrease its lifespan over the
long term.
For the unenlightened, 208V is two phases of a 3-phase system. We have the
more usual 2x120V circuit instead. See
https://ctlsys.com/support/electrical_service_types_and_voltages/
Thanks!

Hello Counter Culture and Sudo-room people. My current research effort is
toward electromagnetic medicine. In past years I automated an enzyme reaction
and applied tuned electromagnetic fields, from radio-frequency to ultraviolet
in search for a non-thermal reaction rate effect. Now I am concentrating on
millimeter wave tuning to promote a gene expression or enzyme reaction. I seek
collaboration with a biologist to perform experiments in-vitro and later
in-vivo. I plan to visit Counter Culture Lab this Tuesday evening and will
elaborate on my resources and strategy. Attached is the microwave enzyme
stimulator under construction in my lab. I have additional projects that are
developed but beg for collaboration: Resolution of wave-particle duality (this
worked, see link), ultimate connectors, slanted spine bookbinding, and musical
instrument inventions.

We need to demo the wooden bookcase in the far corner of sudo bordering ccl
and move two of the cabinets in there. They've already been cleared off and
sorted. There's a lot of junk to move to trash or my car for an ewaste run
tmrw. Right now just me n robb hustlin. If anyone's got a cycle in them to
demo, move the cabinets and/or clean, would be hella rad!
Do you have any reference links for the upgrades? We have the same over at
Sudo and I've noticed it's pretty inconsistent. Wondering if we should
pursue upgrading as well.

Hi everyone,
A final update/reminder for this weekend's activities.
The Bookfair and Bastard conference will be using the entrance hall and
ballroom this weekend and those spaces need to be completely clear to
fit the bookfair tables. I'll be working on moving stuff today and
tomorrow if anyone has some time to help out. Message or email me to
find out when I will be at the Omni. The set up crew from the Bookfair
will be here Friday night.
These events are a great opportunity for collectives to share info with
activists. Omni doesn't have an official table, but Julian has
volunteered to coordinate one that will be located somewhere else in the
building. Thanks Julian! He sent an email about this a day or so ago.
Please be in touch with him to take a tabling shift or give him
materials from your collective that you would like to have at the table.
I would love to see some kind of activities going on in Sudo and CCL to
showcase what you all are doing.
Collectives and related groups that DO have Bookfair tables are Phat
Beets, TIL, GWS, Stinney Distro. FNB will be serving. If you are
interested inn helping any of them with their tables, please contact
them directly.
If you would like to help out with Omni tasks during the Bookfair, let
me know. If you want to help during BASTARD Conference, Katrina is the
point person.

Me thinks they'd be best between sudo/ccl. Maybe put combo lock on one for
active projects

It's probably easier to put them in the basement until we figure out where
they should go in sudo. Against the back wall? Replace the dividing wall
between sudo and ccl? Where should the material stock go, where the wire
rack is now? So many questions :-)

Re-Joined list;
Anyway yes, I checked out these cabinets and overall they look pretty
solid. They would be very ideal for storing parts in, as well as flammables
which probably shouldn't be left out... (eg, oils, alcohols).

I found myself chatting with Joseph Coffland of Buildbotics (

next week. Sounds like a possible demo of their fantastic looking CNC
controller? Should be a good time, I'll plan on being there.

Hey all,
Tried reaching main website https://sudoroom.org several times this
afternoon and evening. It doesn't seem to be responding.
Also tried.....
- using 'sudo ping www.sudoroom.org', it times out and doesn't complete
- ditto " for 'sudo ping 104.236.181.202' "
- 'sudo traceroute www.sudoroom.org' reaches last router
digitalocean-ic-302451-sjo-b21.c.telia.net (62.115.34.18) in 24.010 ms
23.958 ms 24.266 ms and then doesn't complete its roundtrip
The fact that you all may be receiving this email _separately_ rather than
from the sudo-discuss list also indicates something is wrong.
Any idea of what's going on and/or what needs to be done?
Best,

Greetings sudo!
We've had some great momentum these past few weeks, especially on Tuesday
nights, organizing our resources and separating the cruft. On September
16th, the Omni will be hosting the Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair, and thus
the building will be swarming with awesome radicals from all over. I
propose having the space looking spacious and beautiful by September 15th.
Abe suggested this would be a great opportunity for us to host some
workshops in the back.
At last night's mesh meeting, we discussed having a mini-BYOI (Build Your
Own Internet) workshop, and announce the larger one we'll be hosting the
following Saturday for those interested in learning more.
The Bookfair runs from 10am-6pm. Robb and I are thinking we should organize
an afterparty. Not sure if there is anything already planned, but it makes
sense and would be hella fun :)
Thoughts / volunteers to host an open house, afterparty and/or some other
workshops that day?
