I texted with Lovi the other day, who is still a pending member of Sudo,
and Lovi mentioned they would be willing to deep-clean Sudo's
deeply-spoiled fridge, if paid $25/hr cash and supplied with the
various means to do so.
To my knowledge, no Sudoer has voluntarily pursued cleaning this fridge for
the last four months or so after the request went out. It was also insisted
that the fridge be kept and not dumped (Patrik thought it was unsalvageable
due to the near-certainty of mold growing in inaccessible places.) The
fridge incubated a large quantiy spoiling food, unplugged, for an unknown
number of months during the pandemic.
Anyway - as Lovi is not yet a Sudo member, as a Sudo member I would like to
propose that Sudo take Lovi up on their offer, and supply:
- an electrostatic air purifier, and a UV-C light bulb to help passively
de-mold in the first pass in all compartments. The total cost for both is
expected to be <$80.
- bleach, cleaning agents, sponges, paper towels, etc in the second pass.
Expected cost is <$20 in the event Omni's cleaning closet lacks these
items.
In terms of active labor I believe at least four hours should be budgeted
at a minimum, = $100.
Expected cost: $180.
Contingency: $20.
Total: $200.
In return - if Lovi still has capacity and inclination to engage with this
task - I would propose that Lovi provide a do-by date to complete the work,
for the benefit of all sudoers who wish to once more preserve edible food
in a sanitary fashion.
If anyone objects to this proposal, lmk..?
Best,
David

Hey folks,
I tried to join the meeting yesterday by going to
https://meet.waag.org/turtlesturtlesturtles, but the only one there was
Ian. He said that the meeting was on Zoom, but the calendar on the website
doesn't have a link.
When is the next meeting and how do I attend?

last night I accidentally misplaced my Seek Thermal camera, which is sad
because it's a really cool little useful thing and not cheap.
I either placed it in a wrong place somewhere in sudoroom or Omni, or I put it
in my pocket and it literally fell through a hole in my pocket.
It looks like this:
https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/c0a330f1-2199-44e9-a4a6-f3923ab6790d.ce7db…
and it's pretty small. It was attached to a white USB-C adaptor cable about 5"
long that looks like this:
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/614EMxjwo-L._AC_SL1500_.jpg
if you find either one or both of these items, please let me know! and if you
only find one, remember where you found it so i can look for the other one!
thanks everyone. We had a great time in Sudoroom last night.

Hi everyone,
As a tech volunteer for Ashby Village <www.ashbyvillage.org> I've been
assigned to help a member whose printer wasn't working. Even though I found
the power cord and plugged it in, the printer still wouldn't feed the
paper. Probably jammed up with dust and cat hair! She is one of our
low-income members so I wanted to find her an inexpensive replacement. I
asked Jake if there was anything at SudoRoom, and he found me a very nice
HP Photosmart D110. Thank you very much to whoever donated it! My client is
now able to print her application for financial assistance. (I've suggested
she doesn't print photos as the ink is pretty expensive!)
SudoRoom rocks!
cheers

sudoroom.org and meshthepla.net SSL certificates are expiring...a while ago,
according to GANDI, in french. I'm guessing this is taken care of but I just
figured i'd write an email here in case anyone wants to speak up or do

Is anyone watching those domains? Are we on Gandi for those?

Hi,
Can someone with capacity briefly walk the building and briefly report back
on roof leak status - appx quantity, location, severity, etc of any leaks?
(Especially in CCL / Sudo?)
Given the current and projected continuing rain over the holidays, I’m
worried there may be leaks that may otherwise go unnoticed.
Best,
David
Reminder that we get emails to info(a)sudoroom.org, which forward to the
mailing list at
https://sudoroom.org/lists/postorius/lists/info.sudoroom.org/
We need more volunteers to join that list and handle incoming mails
like the one below!
But please only join if you are going to help reply. Emails to a
non-list address come with some presumption of privacy. That's why I
cut out the person's name & email here.
If we don't get enough volunteers to handle these, I would recommend
that we just take the email address off our website and force people
to seek other methods of contacting sudoroom.

Bain came by and re-secured the corner door. From what I understand:
- *the small leaf of the corner door (passive leaf) is now temporarily
fixed in place*. *Do not attempt to operate* this leaf (or remove the bolt
fixing it in place) for the time being. This leaf needs a sign on the
inside attesting to being temporarily out of service. I’m not in town, so
if anyone has time to affix such a sign, I’d appreciate it.
- the wider leaf remains operable, it’s hinges were modified & it’s closer
was adjusted. More work needs to be done with this door, but likely this
will not occur until after the new year.
- keycard / keyed access should function properly / not be impacted by the
fix.
- the corner door once more securely closes / locks.
- permanent fix restoring operability of small leaf et al coming in the new
year.
Best,
David

Hi ian and sarah,
Sarah thank you so much for passing this message on. Ian, thank you so much
for alerting us, and to Sierk and Chicago for assessing this failure. I’m
not in town and no I hadn’t noticed this condition, which sounds quite
concerning.
I’ve just spoken with Bain, our locksmith - *he should be there by about
noon today to at least temporarily triage the situation while we assess a
more lasting fix. *
I’m not in town, but from the sound of it (and going from past experience
elsewhere), the work may or may not possibly involve temporarily disabling
the action of one of the double doors such as the inactive leaf, or
possibly, temporarily putting in a slide bolt in the floor for one leaf if
that is needed.
I’m not at all sure what temporary measures may be required, but to anyone
who may be using omni, I would ask that we all *please allow the locksmith
to pursue a temp fix as he best sees fit*. I have asked Bain to ensure that
whatever the fix is, that the card reader if at all possible remain
functional as a manifest consideration.
Should folks have questions or suggestions, if at all possible, folks
should first try to reach to me or Sarah prior to directly engaging with
Bain, mainly so he can focus on getting a fix committed as he’s doing this
on very short notice and with limited time over the holidays -
I’ll apprise everyone of what was fixed as soon as I hear back from Bain
probably in the afternoon sometime.
Best,
David

Hi, my name is David and I have been working with Lilu on repairing the
Laser at Sudo Room. I am a member at noisebridge and wanted to make clear
that while it is true that Lilu had a misunderstanding/disagreement with
two other members at noisebridge, this took place on an online chat when
she was both extremely low on sleep (i.e. perhaps not thinking totally
logically) and in mourning. It was also resolved in-person through a
follow-up conversation and successful mediation. There has never been a
"safe space" ask to leave for Lilu at noisebridge - there was simply a
disagreement/misunderstanding in an online chat that has since been
resolved.
Lilu has brought to my attention that she has been pursued and touched
inappropriately on two separate occasions by a male worker at the omni
commons who asked her "not to worry because he is divorced". After she
reported this Saturday she has become the target of harassment by a male
friend of the worker, who earlier in the same day (and together with the
worker) had tried to discount Lilu's accusation and to characterize the
interaction as "normal touch".
I think that it would be a mistake to use hearsay about a resolved
disagreement at another organization as reason to discount an allegation
about harassment/inappropriate touch and frankly what looks like an attempt
to bully her into not speaking out about it.
Thanks

Lovi was harassing Chicago (ANV, long time Omni Commoner) this afternoon
about something and Chicago asked that Lovi leave him alone. Lovi mentioned
wanting to call police on Chicago.
Lovi had previously harassed Habiba saying that she (Habiba of East Bay
Food Not Bombs) should not be in Omni Commons (Lovi did not know who Habiba
and kept harassing her asking for her ID)
Lovi had to leave Noisebridge previously when accusing a random person of
being a CIA agent and some other xenophobic conspiratorial ramblings
(emphasizing that the random person was foreign and not from here.)
I asked Lovi to leave and she ran up to the roof as she knows Mike the
roofer.
Is Lovi a Sudo Room member ?

there is a 5 gallon bucket full of golf balls in sudoroom. It's next to the
vacuum pump, under the middle soldering bench.
does anybody know why it's here, or want to keep it here? or should it be taken
to the East Bay center for creative reuse down the street?

For some reason there are five large glass mirrors in sudoroom, on a rolling
cart. unless somebody wants to take responsibility for them I suggest we put
them on Craigslist. does anybody object to getting rid of them?
five mirrors, biggest two are 39" x 22". three of them are beveled at the
edges.
also I got rid of some trash

Could we have a delegate from Sudo Room join the delegates meeting?
Considering there are two Sudo members being voted on for Officer

Also, if anyone else wants to put some effort into selling gear on eBay or
CraigsList, CCL is offering a 25% commission on any of our excess lab
equipment you can sell for us! I believe we still have a couple pieces that
may be worth a few $hundred each. Contact me and David Anderson at
davidcharlesander(a)gmail.com if interested.

needs your help!
To: Patrik D'haeseleer <patrikd(a)gmail.com>
I concur about raising things off the ground. I emptied a few buckets but
it was not as bad as it could have been this morning Bcause Mike put tarps
over the leaky windows and he was vacuuming the floor and surfaces and
emptying out buckets while I moved donations into the Sudo room.
At this point we really need:
1) people to lift things off ground
2) people to evaluate damage to equipment
3) people to clean things that arent fucked
4) people to identify and describe things for sale.
Lots of the equipment is sellable or keepable including some wifi thingies,
a 220 power supply, cords galore and a boss amp. There are some servers
that arent but they "have lots of space and parts". Not my wheelhouse but
I am good at copy and photos for selling, but I need some buddies.

Thanks, Lilu!
I carted out five 10-gal mop buckets of water from Sudo and CCL on Tuesday,
and I know Lilu did more of the same in Sudo with the shop-vac (shop-vac is
easier to use, but mop bucket is easier to roll out to the curb for
emptying).
There is more rain on the way over the next couple of days, but supposedly
less than we've had so far. Meanwhile, the more standing water we can
remove, the faster we'll be able to dry out the building, and the less
problems with mold growth in the next couple of weeks!
If there's any valuable equipment or supplies you don't want to get
water-damaged, make sure it's OFF THE GROUND on a table or rack, and
covered with a plastic tarp. You can split open one of the 50gal garbage
bags from the Omni supplies closet (next to the doors from the entrance
hall to the ballroom) - I brought in an extra box because we had already
used so many for CCL.
Please pitch in!

A bunch of the lucid dream machines are sitting in the wet, the bottoms of

damaged with white rubber in some of the water.
Mike is applying rubber next few days and hopefully tarped the windows so
maybe this is the last time.

I desperately need to save my computer. I can't get to or transfer my files from a (mz vpv5120) ssd. I have lost three days of productivity I don't have on this.
Much Appreciated!
Also anyone seen a grey 32gb PNY USB? I could be working on my files if I knew where it was and I may have left it in the computer nearest laser, as I wasn't feeling good Sat eve.
Much Love!
Sudo room is a disaster of flooding! Thanks Patrick. A black bin was full to overflowing where the tesla coil had been. But there are still leaks everywhere.
David suggested we could borrow some totes from the basement so I did. I grabbed anything that wasnt porous or obviously filled and not dumpable.
Micheal and I each spent several hours mopping and vaccuuming and bucketing. Michael says he gave them a bargain basement proposal for the roof (covering supplies moastly in March. This is not his fault! There are a million seam on the roof because of how previous people cut the sheets to go around the windows and everyone was so focused on the ballroom and that part of the roof drains to sudo area with no outlet.
If you care about Sudo or things in it please show up to rescue it in next day or so.
CCL: has multiple significant leaks.
* IMO, a ccl member if at all possible needs to come on-site stat to assess
lab & equipment if they haven’t already.
* in the event the sump pump is at all inactive or affecting flow of ccl
drain, I cleared away items in front of access hatch in NW lab.
** If possible I would like all shelving / items in NW corner of the NW lab
temporarily removed asap in case the sump pump itself needs to be accessed
/ assessed, which is presently blocked by interior siding / shelving here
(predating Omni’s possession of premises.) *
* sump pump function to me as a layman looks unrelated to roof drain flow
over CCL, but roofer may want to check this to be sure.
* if it can’t be feathered up, west edge of building may need additional
roof drains. Water collects here and flows too slowly to NW roof drain, the
indent in the roof here appears to lead to thicker layers of elastomeric
collecting here which it turned out did not have enough time to cure before
the weather turned.
Ballroom:
three leaks, one on main floor (severity: medium), one on east mezzanine
(medium), one on south mezz (mild)
Roof drainage:
- 48th st drain near corner door: is flooded / partially blocked at
2nd-story air gap, resulting waterfall down side of building. Water is
flowing off roof but itappears that roof drainage is insufficient on this
side and an additional drain must be added. Termination for this drain at
curb: I just noticed is only about 20% of drain orifice, significantly
reducing flow rate of bottom portion of drain. To fix, either the street
must be dug out a bit around opening to unblock, or the sidewalk must be
trenched and the horizontal drain level raised.
- 48th st drain closer to ANV room: drainage works but appears pretty slow;
& termination at curb is 50% of orifice.
- 48th st drain near trash room (from ccl): flows, but w/ 60% clear orifice
at curb face
The rest of omni from a cursory check appears leak-free.
I counted at least five active leaks in CCL, four in Sudo - details below.
I put bins under the worst ones. The water leaking through is milky, which
suggests some of the roof coating is dissolving.
Can't stay here all day, but it would be good to have several more visits
from Sudo and CCL members while the rains continue the next two days!
In CCL, we were getting leaks on the HPLC again (tarped, but some water
pooling on the bench), on the bioreactor table (which was *untarped*, but
most of the water seems to have landed on the table. Cleaned up and tarped
now, but an expert should come look!), and on the cart with some
electronics right in front of the big screen TV.
Sahib and I moved the 3rd bench, bioreactor table and some other gear out
of harm's way, mopped, and put down a few more tarps.
In Sudo, there was a very active leak right on the big Tesla coil. I pulled
it away and put a large bin there. Also active leak right on the first
table.
Quick sketch of leak locations attached below.

Hi fellow Sudoers,
I would like to propose that the weekly HHT’s begin by a 10min period of
emptying sudo’s garbage, and cleaning out the fridge.
I recently emptied the overflowing sudo garbage zone again and had to stomp
out a bunch of cockroaches.
Needless to say its an entirely avoidable situ and this life hack of
regularly emptying waste bins regularly will only make sudo a more
welcoming place. It will also aid in preparation for walking banks and
lenders through, and reduce the maintenance load instead conducted by other
omninoms when sudo lapses in this regard.
Can this be adopted as a proposal for the next sudo / HHT meeting?
with love -
David
almost all the lockers near the staircase have these blue combination locks on

one of those is labeled Null

anyone know how to unlock them?

Hi folks. Most of you havent met me, i go by jonnika. I donated an 8tb
backup server to the room about five weeks back at OHWH Night i think mike
was present. I have been dealing with some non covid related health issues,
otherwise i would have been a bit more active. I hope this is both
pertinent and helps the cause.
I also have a contribution id like to make regarding the mesh project-as
well as becoming an active member of the group as a whole.
Stay safe!

Everything's been migrated to the new server and ready to change DNS
except we're waiting on mailman (2->3 migration) and sudohumans (only
works with ancient nodejs). I've got mailman covered, but nodejs
experts, please help! I could probably figure it out but I'd rather
not.
Email me for login info, thanks.

Mike Tenuto, who will be doing roof work at Omni, is requesting volunteers
to help out* tomorrow Friday and especially Saturday 10am-5:3-pm*. Please
pitch in if you have some time - Mike is giving us a $4K discount if we can
provide him with some extra hands!
I believe part of the work will consist of hauling buckets of roofing
compound up the stairs, and helping spread it out. May want to bring some
shoes and pants that can stand to get dirty...
Looking forward to no more leaks at the Omni!

be restored by 3pm. Until this time please do not use bathrooms / water, or
turn on gas-fired heat.
I will apprise this thread once water and gas service has been safely
restored.
Best,

Hello my name is Lovi, and I am a consulting gardener and Sacred Geometry artist and am from Portland and San Francisco. I grew up in Portland and move to SF when I was a teen. I graduated in SF and studied Environmental Education up north at a very progressive college (Black Lives Matter!). My father's family is from Oakland and SF.
I have been a part of several collective environments including DIY community bike shops such as Bike Farm in Portland(2017-2018), and Food Not Bombs in SF(2000-1), Olympia(2007-8), and Bellingham(2010-11). As well as the biking communities in Portland and SF. I have lived extensively off-grid with only solar power in the woods as well.
I had been working at Noisebridge and will again but am taking a break for a couple weeks as I was putting too much time in working on their laser cutter ventilation without being able to make art and the pressure of that and mourning family from SF who have passed started getting to me very bad when I moved back just a month before. The quietness of Sudo Room appeals to me at the moment but I hope to help Sudo grow in membership by helping out the website with copywriting and design help, and also printing promotional signage or other graphic design and in other ways participating in boosting membership and involvement
I have been working with the laser cutter these last few days, and I can now cut through 1/8th inch acrylic in one pass. There are improvements to be made but I won't digress.
In my life broadly I am a plant geek but have been focusing more on tech and art these last few years. I've been using Linux since 2011. I'm studying JavaScript. For art I have made glow in the dark black light reactive sacred geometry screen-prints, and have moved on to laser cutting in last few years as it is more exact and I like to help teach people about the actual patterns in the universe and natural history through my art. Broadly I wish to inspire folks to cultivate a sense of environmental, alchemical, and universal awareness through my art.
