SUPPORT GLOBAL WOMEN’S STRIKE NETWORK DELEGATION TO SACRAMENTO TO TAKE PART IN WEEK 5 OF THE POOR PEOPLE’S CAMPAIGN* *Everybody’s Got the Right To Live: Living Wages, Jobs, Income, Housing, Education!* On June 11th, multi-racial grassroots campaigners with the Global Women’s Strike Northern and SoCal and International Women’s Strike/LA networks will again travel to Sacramento, joining thousands of others across the U.S for the Week 5 action called by The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for a Moral Revival. On June 11th, in over 30 state capitols people will rise up around the theme *Everybody’s Got the Right To Live: Living Wages, Jobs, Income, Housing, Education*. In California a rally and press conference at the State Capitol in Sacramento will begin at 12:30, followed by a civil disobedience direct action. *Our deep appreciation to those who donated to help get our grassroots delegation to the May 14**th action *– our 40 member multiracial delegation of women, men and 2 children (above) joined hundreds of other Californians taking action, along with people in other state capitols, to end the poverty of women, children and people with disabilities. We were also part of the powerful PPC Week 3 action on May 29th protesting* The War Economy, Militarism and the Proliferation of Gun Violence. * We urgently need your help to raise an additional $1000 to cover our costs to return to Sacramento for the June 11*th action, *including transportation; housing; food and water; child and elder care; first aid and rally materials (i.e. flyers, poster board, markers). We’re committed to making it possible for all who want to take part in our delegation to again come to Sacramento no matter their financial situation. The Poor People’s Campaign carries forward the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, please support our effort to take part in this historic national movement bringing people together to end poverty, racism, the war economy and ecological devastation. If any funds raised are left over, they will help delegation members participate in the last weeks of the 40 days of action, including the final rally in Washington DC. Thank you for your support and solidarity! *PLEASE MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTION TODAY:* <http://bit.ly/womenindialogue> *(add “GWS/IWS PPC” in the designation)* *Checks can also be made out to our fiscal sponsor Women In Dialogue and mailed to Women in Dialogue, PO Box 86681, LA CA 90086* To find out more about The Poor People’s Campaign including info on the Week 5 action in Sacramento, see https://www.facebook.com/californiappc or https://www.poorpeoplescampaign.org Contact the Global Women’s Strike at la(a)allwomencount.net ------------------------------ Change email address / Leave mailing list <https://ymlpsend5.com/ugumsmhugsgmehyghsewggqjuwq> Powered by YMLP <https://ymlpsend5.com/m/>

Fwd: [omni-consensus] Media Lab Proposal

by Jenny Ryan

Hey sudoers! Hoping this can pass on Thursday, but just saw that it hadn't been forwarded to sudo-discuss. Could folks discuss @ meeting-party tonight? If current delegate(s) could please remember to forward omni 'consensus' proposals to sudo-discuss, that would be raaaad! FYI - we are having a basement cleanout/work party on Thursday, June 7th from 12-6pm. There will indubitably be delicious foods and cold drinks for volunteers! <3 Jenny ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Laura Turiano <scylla(a)riseup.net> Date: Thu, May 17, 2018 at 2:43 PM Subject: [omni-consensus] Media Lab Proposal To: "consensus(a)lists.omnicommons.org" <consensus(a)lists.omnicommons.org> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ebaHkaSeCWHKKEjbg6u- VvDzifF-eFuBX_b_HmdDv0E/edit#heading=h.r94oqxqphwnu _______________________________________________ consensus mailing list consensus(a)lists.omnicommons.org https://omnicommons.org/lists/listinfo/consensus Ungoogled: Overview We propose to build a community media laboratory for the production of propaganda and educational materials for campaigns and projects. Our mission is to transform the most neglected space in Omni Commons into a place for creative production available to Omni members, and, eventually, local artists, activists, organizers, and members of the general public (either supervised or trained), sustained through sliding-scale donations, grants, mutual aid, and creative reuse. A new working group will steward supplies, tools, and resources, as well as host educational hands-on workshops. Approval of this proposal means the formation of an official committee of the Board to manage a Media Lab, and acceptance of the following general plan. Resources We have currently: - A large-format plotter - A vinyl cutter - A Tecre button-maker and supplies - Screenprinting equipment and press (ABDC) - Digital duplicator - Several Xerox copiers - Various printers - Laminator - Ream paper cutter (2) - Book scanner (current under development in sudo) - Miscellaneous crafting supplies and materials Proposed Services - Community media lab with regular open hours (TBD) and services rendered by appointment; - An archive of art and media produced in the lab, including historical propaganda produced for past events, causes, and actions in the community; - Regular, public workshops on topics such as zine-making, button-making, screen printing, banner-making, printing, graphic design and illustration. WG Members Attendees of our first meeting on May 11th were: Anka (LibLens/FNB), Ken (CCL), Robb (Sudo/LibLens), Jenny (Sudo), Laura, Sierk (Sudo), and Phil (FNB). Interested potential members include Kazoo (ABDC), Marcus (ABDC), Vienna (ABDC), Sara (ABDC), Julian (BAPS), Abe, Gerald (LibLens/FNB), and Rayc (Sudo) Media Lab Structure Governance The Media Lab Working Group will be modeled on the structure of the Commons Working Group. Members will receive formal training that will: familiarize them with Omni and Medial Lab policies and procedures; provide them with the skills to maintain Media Lab equipment, and supervise others’ use of the equipment; prepare them to share in management of incoming requests for Media Lab usage. The WG will collectively develop the policies and procedures with final approval by the Delegates, and maintain and manage the Lab. This will include maintaining financial records in collaboration with the Finance WG and making regular reports to the Board. Operations Supplies and equipment will be labeled with suggested donation for use. Donations will go toward supplies and machine maintenance (estimated at approximately $200-500/month, depending on amount of use). Individual WG members may contract with outside groups to fill orders for a fee (as with our AV techs) with approval of the WG. Over time, we expect the medialab to become capable of regular contributions to the Omni as a whole for space and utilities usage, and propose a check in approximately 6 months after move-in (June 1st, with check in on Dec. 1st). Users who are not part of the Media Lab WG will need to make an appointment to use the equipment or come during regular open hours, which are yet to be determined. This is to help ensure that equipment is not damaged and supply use is monitored. When not in use, supplies and equipment will be either stored in a locked cabinet or secured in place. If possible, electronics will require some kind of electronic code to function. The best way to do this is under discussion. We will submit a second proposal after build-out is complete to formalize the process for how collectives, members, and eventually outside folks will access. Intended Users Intended users of the Omni Media Lab include, by priority: 1. Omni Media Lab Working Group members (free) 2. Omni Member Collectives and collective members (free some set # of times / year, sliding scale donation) 3. Aligned community groups and organizations (by sliding-scale donation, or negotiated rate) 4. General public (by sliding-scale fee, or negotiated rate) Floor Plan Lab will be located in the Old Material Print Machine area (550 sq ft): Current conditions: Before cleanup After cleanup Future possibilities! Building Plan and Estimated Construction Budget The designated area will be cleared out. We will give TIL once more opportunity to remove the broken offset printer, and if they can’t, we will break it down and remove it. Old fluorescent lights will be removed and replaced with energy efficient and inexpensive LED tube lights (see link below). Missing ceiling tiles will be replaced. Floor will be primed and painted with concrete paint. Walls and ceiling will be painted. In the future, additional electrical outlets may be added if needed. Donated a hot/cooler to Sudoroom

by Robert Chu

Hello Sudoroom community, I donated a Bottle underneath, sleek, water heater and cooler. It is great for making tea, drip coffee, instant coffee, etc. The hot water is also great to use for cleaning surfaces as well. Also dispenses really cold water. Public Service Announcement: I (ROBERT ALBERT YOUNG CHU) doesn't do Heroin!

by Robert Chu

Hello Omni Community at large, I would like to inform you all that I actually don't do Heroin (Hooray),as it is stated in the bathroom stall walls (closest to CCL and Sudoroom). I can tell you this though... That writing appeared the same day flew out. In addition I also saw him sneak into through the back door that day as well and didn't stop him because I had to get to a job. Since I didn't see him write on the stall myself, I can only rule out that it would be a possibility that he would do such a thing as to spread a rumor about me doing heroin. I didn't see the guy do it, and only think of it as a possibility because it would fall under a similar pattern of behavior of spreading rumors that he is known for about people within communities they are a part of. I find this kind of ironic as well as another Sudoroom member blew up at me and accused me of getting him kicked out, when I didn't even want him to be banned. I even tried mediating with him to prevent it. Life is ironic. Anyway I am glad people have noticed "Rob does Heroin" as well. I have been to busy to care about such foolishness, which is why I haven't done anything about it. Such as running my own appliance repair business, and hacking the planet. I also just wanted to let everybody know I drink alcohol once in a while, but defiantly don't do heroin or other drugs. I don't even smoke marijuana. So I think we should putting painting the bathroom on the planning board. Robert Albert Young Chu P::415-724-0425 E:: robert.chu01(a)gmail.com
