Hi all,
I've been working remotely with Lisha Sterling with Geeks Without
Bounds, Digital
Smoke Signals <https://www.facebook.com/DigitalSmokeSignals> and other orgs
comprising the Tech Warrior Camp on the ground at Standing Rock. They
completed their WiFi bridge to a nearby tribal-owned telecom on Saturday
and so the camp now has internet, but they could use support building out
an intranet mesh for ready access to Lakota educational materials, medical
and legal info, camp-to-camp communications, and media storage. Nodes will
be powered via a decentralized array of small solar / wind / bike power
modules. The intention is to build out permanent and sustainable
infrastructure at Standing Rock, to last well beyond the pipeline protest.
If you can make it out there to help, or contribute to their fund to
procure necessary equipmen <https://www.gofundme.com/waterissacred>t,
please do! If you're in the Bay and can donate equipment, in particular
OpenWRT-comptatible routers, bring them to Sudo Room ASAP and I will ensure
they make it into one of the trucks heading out there this week.

standing-rock/
You can find more info on preparing for and being at Standing Rock,
including Lisha's signal #, here:

Email me privately for more details on the network buildout phasing,
current technical & environmental challenges, and line-of-site mapping.
Love and solidarity,
Jenny

Hey all,
I've been talking with EmilyRose Johns from the SF National Lawyers Guild
recently, and she's agreed to facilitate a Legal Observers Training at the
Omni next Sunday, Dec 4th from 11am-1pm.
Please register via EventBrite if you'd like to attend - previous trainings
at UC Berkeley were overwhelmingly popular and sold out, so we may need to
keep an eye and cap attendance at 240:

If you'd like to get involved in or have suggestions for the informal
'organize' WG that's been meeting on Wednesdays, send an email to organize
AT omnicommons DOT org. You can learn more about what we've been up to
(such as notes from previous workshops) and proposals for future workshops
/ events / space/ adaptations at https://omnicommons.org/organize
Also, if you could, please invite friends and share the Facebook event:

http://www.fastmail.com - Does exactly what it says on the tin
this is for my house. i'm willing to donate money to get it, but i'm ready for it now.
i know we have tons of these spools laying around, and we'll always get more, so tell me where it is.
as a member of this community i hereby post the following:
seeking a housemate to fill a bedroom of about 140 square feet, on the ground floor of a duplex in west oakland, starting on December 1st.
the monthly rent is $900 due to circumstances beyond my control. myself and the other two housemates are paying more for larger and less for smaller rooms, as is fair.
I will try to get you onto the lease so you have full tenants' rights. The house is in good condition, has a large common room, and clothes washer/dryer.
1.2 miles from MacArthur BART station
it has a nice backyard which is shared with the upstairs apartment, which is used as AirBNB by the capitalist landlord, but it's nice because it means that most of the time it's empty.
Please contact me by email with any questions.
Folks,
It just hit me that I should have shared this on the list a long time ago:
There is a recruiter looking (or was on Nov 3) for a System Administrator
for College of Marin.
Here is the quote of the email I got:
"Systems Administrator for a 6 month contract to hire opportunity. Hourly
rate is $45/hr. for the contract phase, and upon conversion to FTE, salary
would be $80k + full comp. package. I wanted to reach out to you and see if
you were interested or if there is anyone you know who could be a good fit?
"
I have the recruiter's contact info if someone is interested.
Thanks,
D.

Anyone have a van, pickup truck, or even a large hatchback available, to
help me transport a 1/2 size fridge from South SF to CCL?
I bought an undercounter lab fridge on a biotech auction last week (to
replace the one in the BSL2 lab that decided it would rather be a freezer),
but now I need to go pick it up by the 17th. I could rent a uHaul, but with
mileage that would cost more than the fridge did in the first place...
Anyone available today, Wed. or Thu?
Thanks!
Patrik
hi all,
ok not really an 'emergency' unless you count the forthcoming
four-year-long state of emergency we're entering into post-Trump -
I would like to get together with anyone who is feeling the rage and
despair against the election outcome, to brainstorm how Omni can best
provide shelter, workspace and solidarity to those presently engaged in the
protests against the insanity of recent events which has ignited the bay
area.
This might mean:
- Making a flyer encouraging activists to use omni for meetings, going to
protests, and handing them out?
- Organizing banner-making sessions, weekly assemblies, etc?
- protest tactics, info sessions?
- generally getting the word out that omni can serve as a site of
interconnection and possible collaboration for various groups of activists
and activated friend groups, etc
- what can member groups supply the effort..? Ideas:
Sudo - (just riffing here):
-- disseminate peoplesopen.net to support protests?
-- fab some drones?
BAPS:
-- classes on community, solidarity, resistance, political philosophy
meeting praxis
others: ?
I am aware of other calls to action and convergences elsewhere, but I
figure we as the omni community at large should also figure out how we
might best make available our resources to the mass effort.
Niki and I will be hosting, we will try to bring some yummy food -- and
super late notice I realize but we figured hell, no time like the present
please come if you can :) and pass the word on -
love & solidarity
David
