That was not my experience, but I've only been to one of their handful
of events (Oakland Data Day). I heard mixed reviews of their other
events and can't comment on them. I could never afford the price of
being there during the day, so I wouldn't know.
I am refreshingly surprised that you care about this, Eddan. I think
all Sudoers need to look critically at our work from an intersectional
feminist, anti-racist and anti-colonial frame. That especially
includes being accountable to our privileges and learning to replace
oppressive silencing behavior with ally behavior. How's that Sudo
men's group going, btw?

To be clear, it is women, people of color, queers and other oppressed
groups who have struggled to be supported and represented at Sudoroom.
I feel like saying the organization has struggled is a rhetorical
erasure that adds to this problem. There are actually a lot of us, but
we face a structural bias.

The logic of open knowledge systems is to celebrate the spread of these norms as they become more widely adopted - concern about 'copying and pasting' seem to perpetuate an exclusive rights kind of thinking.
Pretty sure Hol was being tongue-in-cheek. As I said in reply at the
meeting, "it's more of a ctrl-x"
Refuge Restrooms - a group developing free & open source apps to help
trans & genderqueer people find safe bathrooms - would like to hold a
hackathon at Sudoroom next Saturday (April 12). I think this is an
AWESOME idea! But I want to know how much of the common area will be
available. They want 10AM to 5PM, and our calendar also has:
2-3:45 Today We Learned (this happens in Sudoroom)
3:30 - 5:30 Counter Culture Labs: Lab Automation & Robotics
So either CCL's event could happen inside Sudoroom, or they could
share the common area with the hackathon - maybe the hackathon could
cede the projector area and move to the couches at 3:30. Would this be
disruptive? Thoughts?

Sudoroom on Gittip." Soon we will collect them all! :)

Greetings and salutations. I know I don't post much here but I wanted
to pass along something for consideration by Sudoroom.
On 14 June 2014 the IEET is going to be holding a conference called
Global Existential Risks & Radical Futures
(http://brighterbrains.org/articles/entry/global-existential-risks-radical-f…).
As the name implies, the overall theme of the day is disruptive and
radical technologies (such as the grassroots stuff being done at
Sudoroom). I'm posting to see how much interest there would be in in
Sudoroom (as a boots-on-the-ground, actually-doing-stuff group of
people) having a display and demo table at the conference to
demonstrate things that are happening on the street and not inside a
lab or on a bunch of whiteboards.
Would Sudoroom be interested? If so, I can provide more information.
If not, that's fine, hack on.

people dont seem to understand.
sudoroom needs a car battery charger now to recharge matt's battery that
we used last time, so it can be used again to power the 3d printer while
it goes around the block.

Hello at this week's meeting we made a new fundraising strategy, that is
participatory.
==Background==
Last year we won two *$4,000 cash* grants, and a *$2,000 3D printer* just
by being sudo room and filling out forms.
==New fundraising Idea==
1. Any sudoer can fill out, or add to this list of 41 grants to apply for.
2. The grant writers for an application will receive a recommendation at a
sudomeeting to get * 50% commission* for applying on sudo's behalf.
3. We organize on fundraising(a)lists.sudoroom.org , so sign up there to
discuss
==Medium-Term Strategy===
1. We think that if the Omni-move-in happens, we would like to fundraise
with them together as a unit. We will wait until July 1st.
2. If the Omni falls through, then we will have a sudo space individual
fundraiser. Idea is a harmonious-hackathon / pay-what-you-can dev bootcamp
one weekend. It can be paired with this idea:
2.1 Offer to host an RSVP Dinner w/ Francisco and Liberation Food Worker
Cooperative
