I consulted Phil, and he says no one turned away for lack of funds!!! So
donations it is (yay)!
Would anyone be interested in continuing the conversation on money/yenom
and events hosting? Is there a point of process you might be interested in
our formalizing?

Another reason to have a suggested donation is if
you are using a venue
that
doesn't allow a cover. I'll swing either
way depending on the opinions of
other members, but I would like to point out that this would set a
precedent
that non-free events are ok at Sudo Room as long
as there is a door
split.

can attend, events often have a suggested donation because a film,
recording, piece of music, etc. may be licensed for non-commercial use
only.
That means they would not permit the movie to be screened when an
admission
fee is charged. But you could suggest donations (another alternative
would
be sell food/snacks/etc.)
