Following up to say that I am hearing from Eric he has tried to communicate
with Jamal about these issues and not received responses, so I would like
more information about that. It is very hard for me to keep track of all of
these interpersonal conflicts when I have other things to focus on, and my
view may not be the most accurate.
I just ask that we all remember the most important thing is Omni's
survival. If we have unresolvable differences and we can make concessions
that move us forward I would support that, but I want to ensure we are
seeing good faith engagement from both sides.

I disagree that we can safely let Jamal go. I have not
heard of anyone
else that is willing and able to navigate our current issues and find a
solution. I believe in Jamal's ability to solve our problems.
Last week I helped ensure that sudo room would block any employment
contract that would give Jamal the power to ban Jake and Eric. Whatever the
issue is, I do not believe that unilateral bans are the solution.
That said, there has to be a back and forth. If finding a new delegate is
the alternative to unilateral ban permission, that seems like a compromise
I am willing to accept.
If this is what Jamal needs to move forward and focus on solving the
building's problems, I would join with Yar in asking Eric to accept this
request. Time is running out and I do not believe anyone else has the skill
to serve as ED and solve our problems before we lose the building, and that
is an outcome I am not willing to accept.
I will not be able to attend tonight's meeting, but if someone could
please read out this statement at an appropriate time I would appreciate it.

The friction between Jamal and Eric was raised at
the last delegates
meeting, and it was suggested that the two speak with one another for
understanding and potential resolving differences.
Did the two initiate a conversation and what's the update?
I also don't feel that we should have the power to request a delegate to
step down, and its up to that collective to decide. Maybe I'm missing
something?
Thanks,
Toan

Do we have a Sudoroom meeting tonight, so we can
discuss this?

For those who don't know - Jamal has set a
clear boundary with us. He
is not willing to be ED as long as Eric remains a sudoroom delegate, due to
concerns about Eric telling lies about him, treating him with disrespect,
and normalizing or tolerating anti-Black attitudes and behaviors.
I am personally not interested in escalating any conflicts with Eric. I
do have concerns as well about Eric's ability to navigate power
differentials or represent marginalized members. I voted against him last
week, but I didn't block because I think saving Omni will require us to
focus on bigger things. But now he's become a direct obstacle. I think that
it would be best for Omni if we honor Jamal's boundary and ask Eric to step
down as delegate.
